Would anyone else admit to watching it?

I watched the trailer for season 4 and got pumped about it. Then....April! NOOOOOOOO.

Even if you're not into fantasy stories. This series destroys how movies are made and how stories are written. Women that are smarter than just falling into the arms of the hero, characters that are conflicted while heroes that are destroyed, and true brutalit for all.

I haven't missed an episode and I have went back twice now and rewatched the previous seasons.

I have the books on my iPad but I haven't found a chance to start reading them yet, maybe one of these days.

Come on April hurry the hell up.

I read the books which are OK, certainly no Tolkien or Stephen R. Donaldson. If you want to read something a lot better IMHO try the Skystone series by Jack Whyte.

Saying anything by Donaldson is better than A Song of Ice & Fire (the actual name of the book series that A Game of Thrones is based on) is blasphemy. The Thomas Covenant series is so bad I've tried to start it three times and can't even finish the first book. .................As for ASOIAF, the books are arguably the best of the genre since Lord of the Rings. Much darker, however. The HBO show is mediocre at best if you have read the books. The had to make much of the subtly overt to appeal to the ignorant masses. For instance, there is no gay sex in the books but it is prominent in the HBO show.............

I agree that having read the books it takes a bit away from the series, it's understandable why some things have changed, that doesn't make it good though. The books though, wow! They just go on and on and on! Go and watch the South Park episode where they track down the George R R Martin, pretty much has it down. That guy could has no clue how to end a story. I feel like I've invested so much effort I'll have to read the new books when / if they ever come out, but I won't enjoy it! I say just stick to watching it, it's a pretty awesome show when you don't know what you're missing!

As I said IMHO as well as many others. Opinions differ although I must say, at least with George R. Martin, I never once had to reach for a dictionary. Not that it's important, but I do appreciate Donaldson's incredible use of the English language. I really liked the premise of Game of Thrones but the development of the story and characters left a lot to be desired. A better story teller could have done much better with it. Having said that, if two or three more books come out to clean up a few of the myriad of loose ends, I'll be reading them.

We have watched them all. Mid evil porn and slaughter. It is pretty brutal the way they kill off all the cool characters but new ones show up ...for a while.

Got hooked after the last episode of S1. You know shit just hit the fan on the very moment you see 'his' head roll. (not wanna be to 'spoilerish')

Draws heavily on historical Roman tactics etc. Entertaining, but will prove to not be enduring in he future when judged by various authors and forum purveyors. Having said that, some of my favorite movies are of the mindless shooting and beatings genreWink

I just finished the first 3 seasons again.

GRRM is better than most others... Who cares if he can't finish it? I prefer long stories to short stories.
