Former heavyweight boxing champion Joe Frazier is seriously ill and in a hospice in Philadelphia, his business manager says.

The 67-year-old Frazier was diagnosed with liver cancer about a month ago, Leslie Wolff says.

Hospice pretty much means he has 2-5 days left.

Hospice, atleast here is usually only called in close to death.

One of the greatest of all time, a true warrior. Ali's greatest foe. Wish him well in his new fight!

Tri-5, that is just WRONG. Lol. Damn funny, though. The first thing I thought of when I clicked on this, from that fight all those years ago. Pretty sure it was against Ali, but Joe had a lot of great ones.
Had no idea about the purpose of a "hospice". Sad end.

"Down goes Frazier" was against Goerge Foreman. Frazier didn't match up well with big George and suffered knockouts on 2 different occasions against him. He was beaten by Ali but I don't think Ali ever knocked him down. Frazier knocked Ali down with that famous left hook though.

You're probably right. Joe was just a guy I watched as a kid and worshipped. He was something. Some great fights from that era. He certainly did give Ali some of the toughest battles in his career.

Yeah, Joe knocked Ali down in the first fight and broke his jaw. Ali never knocked Joe down , but he did get a tko over Joe. in one of the other 2 fights. Joe got pounded in both fights against Big George. Remember the one where Joe got hit/hurt by George and hopped around in the ring punch drunk.

I just watched a special on HBO about Frazier and Ali and those legendary fights.

Here is something that was revealed in that special which I did not know;
Frazier was partially blind in his left eye from a sparring accident in 1968......he fought most of his pro career including all 3 Ali bouts pretty much with 1 eye.
In the final Ali fight by round 10 his good eye was swollen shut and he basically couldn't see the shots coming at him.
Just stood there toe to toe and traded punches anyway.

Heart.....
RIP Joe.
