I watched the news last night and they arrested a couple of kids at the local high school for brawling in the hallway in between classes. How many of us fought in school?
These kids could end up with criminal records for fighting in School. At my school this was a common practice. I think these kinds of policies ruin kids lives before they reach adulthood.

Today the schools are so huge, and run like cities, there really is no sense of community anymore. Plus there is an insane level of liability for school officials, and the levels of violence are higher. Society is more violent.
Like the school in South Florida where the kids set the other kid on fire over a video game, and a guy just put a classmate in a coma by beating her and slamming her head against the concrete. Back in your day how often were kids taking guns to school and blazing away?
The world is changing, and the old "let em settle it out back" thing doesn't fly anymore.
Not that I agree with bringing the cops in. But I understand why school officials would do that.
Say it escalates and next week someone gets killed. School gets blamed, lawsuit etc.

I see your point. I simply believe there has to be a better answer.
I have seen petty offenses snowball into a life of dealing with the law. I believe that getting these kids criminal records at such an early age is setting them up for failure. It is at least going to make life a lot tougher for them. We all fought in school imagine if you were punished by today's standards how your life might have turned out.
Once, there was a free-for-all that involved at least thirty guys, and quite a few girls.
The ones who got caught using weapons (Bats, pipes, trash cans, etc.) got suspended for a couple days.
Check this shit out:
In middle school, my son mixed some soap into a soda, to play a trick on a friend.
Another kid got ahold of the soda, took a swig, and went ballistic.
The kid's mom was called, the mom called the cops, and my son was charged with assault.
He was taken downtown and held like a criminal, until my wife could pick him up.
He went to juvenile court, and was sentenced to some POS intervention program for youth offenders.
He was grouped with kids who sold drugs, stole shit, and vandalized things.
The program went on for months, and required hours and hours of participation from my wife, myself, and my son.
He's sixteen now, and he has a criminal record.
When he turns eighteen, we're going to spend a bunch more time getting his record cleared.
All over a silly joke.
Go figure!

If they had a problem, I made them watch.
my little girl has it in her. She is WILD! She was in the tub last night screaming ROCK on and splashing water everywhere. She will be trouble that one. I can't help but smile at most of her exploits!
In basketball it wasn't as bad but there was still hazing. Baseball the coach was not having any fooling around. If you got busted for horseplay be prepared to run with a bat over your head.
