Post your favorite “Old Timey” album covers, before CD’s took over, (QUALITY NOT QUANTITY). Not necessarily a favorite for the music in the album, but for the cover art mainly. I’ll start. I bought this Scorpions album mainly because I liked the cover, the music on it is OK also.

In the good old days, before Compact Discs became prominent, I would buy an album, bring it home, stick it on the turntable and then lay back on the couch and completely digest the album cover and liner notes while listening to the album. If the jacket or liner notes included lyrics I would always read the lyrics while the songs played. I switched over to CD’s in 1987. Once that happened I rarely would study the CD notes. Too small to read and kind of a pain to slide them out of the CD box. As a result I know the lyrics to pre-1987 rock songs much better than what came after. In the good old days, album covers were considered art. Art that you would display in front of your stereo system.

Now most music is downloaded I guess, or people get it on their streaming service? Just not the same.

I like all the Roger Dean Yes album covers, but this one is my favorite. "Relayer", unfolded.

Already posted. Dark Side of the Moon album cover is solid. Same with "Wish you were here".

Also, I don't care for Iron Maiden's music but their album covers are always solid.

Dark Side of the Moon has to be the most iconic. This might be the most memorable:

GrapeApe, I almost posted that one. They released that LP with a censored version too.

I love this album cover, it looks so peaceful. Just a knight and his falcon out for an early morning hunt.

Yes the Interwebs confirms Asia is a Roger Dean cover. On the Nirvana cover I wonder who thought of that idea for the cover, very clever. I would include it in my Fav's but it came in the CD era plus I never actually bought this CD.

Now I have to listen again to this album, (and digitize it). I don't remember if it was any good but I always liked the cover.

Edit: Yea it's a great album, how could I have forgotten? Ronnie Montrose's band in the late 70's/early 80's.
