Agreed! Another amazing fact is 10 years ago today Elon and Tesla delivered their first production roadster.

The last ten years must have been a really wild ride for Elon.

What would be even cooler is if after a few trips around the sun, say 10 years from now they have BFR built and ready for a test lauch, they send it up to capture Elon's roadster and bring it back to Earth.

One of the greatest engineering feats in human history if you ask me. Right up there with the printing press, microprocessor, the Internet, landing on the moon. truly amazing shit.

Looks like they lost the center core. 2 of the 3 engines didn't relight for the landing burn and it hit the water at 300mph.

27 engines. 5 million pounds of torque. From an engineering perspective trully amazing.

But yeah, humans can’t stack heavy blocks!!! Whistling

Lets not go too crazy here. While it's true the FH is the most powerful booster currently flying the Saturn V and soon to fly SLS (in its final configuration) are capable of lifting payloads 3 times as big. While Elon has certainly made vertical landing a reliable and usable feature there have been test vehicles doing similar things for decades. Elon himself has always said the steps SpaceX is making are evolutionary, not revolutionary.

Now Elon's BFR will be the next real step in spacecraft. Assuming he can make it work as advertised that rocket will have the largest lift capacity of any ever made and be capable of vertical planetary landing pretty much anywhere in the solar system.

I see a lot of similarities between Elon Musk and Wernher von Braun. The biggest difference is that von Braun was much more dependent on government to make his dreams possible. As great as his accomplishments were, he was actually hampered on some of his visions along the way. Musk is much more in control of the ship. I am excited to see what is to come. Hope I live long enough to see how much of it plays out.
