Very cool monument.

After 9/11, we probably had the greatest surplus of foreign goodwill since Pearl Harbor.

We / Bush squandered it faster than the $$ surplus left over from the previous admin.

Ain't that the truth. To me, this was Bush's biggest mistake. We had the world in our control (most important willingly), and he completely blew it.

Apparently, from the sources at the bottom of the snopes page, there is/was some controversy about it. Maybe the locals are too ashamed of something to brag about it.
