I am looking into purchasing a laptop as a second computer for home. Laptops in my price range will have Office 2007 Home & Student which does not come with Outlook. Office 2007 Standard will run $90 more and the only thing you get for that money is Outlook. I don't want to pay the extra $$ just to get outlook and I am not purchasing Apple.

What are some options for Microsoft users not using Outlook for e-mail, including is the program web or computer based, what needs to be installed, cost and ease of use?

Thanks!!

Thunderbird. I hate Outlook for email, and even though I own Office Pro, I never install Outlook. Get it (and Firefox if you want that too) here:

I still use Eudora for email, even though it has been taken over by Mozilla and Thunderbird, I am using the last real Eudora release, 8.0 before it changed over to T-bird.

Thanks for the replies. Who woulda thunk that some on here actually can give honest opinions to requests for help.

openoffice and Thunderbird.

You could also use Google apps as well for your Office programs.
