Mac virus?
Last night, a box popped up on my screen telling me I had to re-start my computer.
The only way to do it was shut it down manually.
I shut down my server first, just in case.
It started up fine, but my OS has quit twice since then, requiring manual shut down.
When I sent the report to Apple, it said something about "Darwin Kernel".
I don't understand all the tech-speak that was included in the report, but it didn't look good.
My machine is working fine right now, and nothing seems to have been lost, but...
I'll keep you posted.

Run disk utility and towards the bottom of the window you'll see a button called rebuild permissions. Run that on your system disk, I usually do it twice just to make sure. Then restart the machine. You may want to "verify disk" at the same time to make sure your hard drive directory isn't getting a little confused.
If the verify disk comes back with errors then you'll need to boot from your system disk and run the copy of disk utility on the install disk to make any changes. Dusk utility can't make changes to the system disk when it's booted from that disk.
"I thought Macs were simple? I thought they didn't need any "maintenance"?"
It started happening right after I loaded an update for my microsoft office software.
