Congrats to the Austin area but it has always been Texas for the truck. Elon has been saying it would be built in that region for a couple of years. This has nothing to do with CA politics.

Traditionally, that's not his style. The only thing that might come up is lithium. One of the largest lithium reserves in the world is in Mexico.

They are a vertical integration company. They usually source or build it themselves locally. The battery pack and motors will likely be built in NV. The plants in China and Germany are rumored to ultimately be building motors and batteries there but it’s a lot closer to NV from TX than China.

I’ve toured their Fremont facility and they show you all the support facilities they own near by. When they first started, the common automaker suppliers weren’t interested in them or at least with any priority which forced the vertical integration. Elon has stated multiple times it made it challenging in the beginning but now it gives them a strategic advantage.

Lordstown Ohio is being refitted to build an electric truck. thry used to build the Cruze there. But I’m not sure this is gonna last. I got more faith that Tesla will produce something superior here.
