Today she became the first American woman to win the World Championship since 2001 in her first year in the Elite Class (previously she was in the Under 23 class). She did it in dramatic style with a Tomac-like push from behind to pass the leader on the last lap and pull away to the finish. The World Championship is a single race winners take all event, as opposed to the World Cup which is the series that runs through the summer.

I just happened to turn on Redbull TV this morning to catch it live, a replay should be available soon. Admittedly XC mountain bike racing is a bit boring to watch but they do produce excellent coverage on the broadcast.

Congratulations to Kate on this accomplishment. Hope she is an American force in the sport for a long time.

Good for your daughter, such a better role model than a Kardashian.
