So it warmed up to around 69 yesterday.
I decided to go for a late-afternoon run up to the lake and take in a sunset.
it got pretty nippy once the sun went behind the mountain must have been around 50 degrees when I decided to finally leave which was hard to do as it was so freaking peaceful up there....
I was dressed for the occasion but still just about froze on the way home along the river.....
How do you fugger's do it in the snowbound states!!!??
you must drink a lot of whiskey eh?

Going riding tomorrow 😎
I don't think I will spend the rest of my days here.
It is super nice in the summer.
But if I can't find a way to leave in the winters I will eventually move away.
I feels ya Tarz.
Looked at me bike yesterday, in the garage. 18 degrees. Half a foot of snow outside.
Thought, why the heck am I not in Florida right now?
Man that's a good looking bike.
Florida better warm up. Coming down for Tampa and some winter riding.
we get by, my dude

What I've wondered about riding in deep snow like that is how do you know if there isn't a buried Boulder 1 foot beneath as you go blasting along?
we started out with our existing KTMs (300 two stroke and 525) but have since moved onto new YZ450's that we keep the snowbike kits on year round. there is so much work to switch them back and forth that it was just worth it to have them be dedicated snowbikes.
as for the Boulder question... you can usually tell when something is under the snow as there's a light bulge on the surface of snow, so you do your best to avoid that stuff. funny enough, my dad got high-centered on a boulder the size of a VW Bug just before i snapped this picture. it's just out of frame to the right.
the beauty of snowbikes is we have amazing snow year round, where as the snowmobilers need to search out the good stuff. we ride all the stuff that they can't get into. the drawback is they aren't as much fun in the open or on big hills. but i'll take tree slolum and untouched powder over going fast up a hill any day.
Yeah I can imagine transferring your bike to a snow bike can be quite a chore something you don't want to do back and forth.
So did you buy new yz450's for snow bikes?
I think our short winter might have ended, this is from last Sunday.
i have a blast riding with him, he's a hell of a rider and we only have one other friend that goes, so if my dad is going i'm going and if he's not going then i usually don't go. it's good because it keeps us really close.
what year is your 350? i bought the new XC450 last October and absolutely love it. i was on the fence of going with the 350 or a 450, but i stil have my 300 so the 450 was the ticket.
I found out from the local dealer KTM was no longer going to make that model that if you want to dual sport a KTM you would have to buy the EXC which has all the smog crap and blinkers on them.
He also said they were all sold out in Arizona which I found out was true so I got on my phone and found one in Southern Cal at Grant's shop.
I called them up and ask them about it and they said yes it was available I told them I will call them back in a few minutes to let them know.
I still had my 520 and 6 days 250 so I needed to think about it for about 10 minutes and I called him back and made the deal over the phone.
No regrets as I really love this bike and I sold the other two. I do miss the awesome engine of the 520 though, that thing was a tractor as you know.
Without adding a couple $2000 or more worth to make it into a snow bike. Does look cool but out of my range.
Went back up to the lake to look for UFO's but there was too many people and activity around.
Might have to wait till another government shutdown for them to reappear.
