Car commercials are generally the lamest TV ads. Not sure why but that's my opinion. I keep seeing one for Range Rover where it goes through a gate and a bunch of white dogs bark at it. Then it goes to what looks like a home entrance. They keep showing the dog's barking like I'm supposed to get something from that. I know I'm not the brightest taco in the shed but WTF about that commercial is supposed to get me to buy a Land Ranger or Road Warrior or whatever the fuck that is? Does it come with white dogs? They have another one that's almost as stupid. Some guy picks up some guys running from a dust storm then they show a sailboat. Am I getting to be that "get off my lawn" old guy or are these commercials that fucking stupid? Or both?

I can't stand the "real people" Chevy commercials. Especially because they act surprised as the new car rolls out, but it looks like it is just CGI.

Someone throw up the commercial from the super bowl a couple years ago ,I think Chevy sponsored it for their trucks with the God created a farmer speech. Still the best commercial for a vehical.

They make a shit ton of car commercials every year, year after year after year, and it takes something pretty special to stand out. That said, based on my experience, not a lot of car companies want to take that risk anymore... they'd rather just pony up some money, hire a trusted director / dp, get a bunch of glamor shots, and throw some voice over on top of it.

That said, this is one of my favorites:

I hate how they show cars doing things you’ll never do in them. Ever.....those commercials are stupid. Cant think of a commercial for a car that has ever made me go “oh man I need that”

That Range Rover commercial is stupid. They’re just trying to sell the fancy ass door handles. Who gives a shit. Status symbols. Poorest people on earth will finance one of those things for 72 months for the “status”

Some are definitely lame, but a select few are truly spectacular (like this example from Honda, dating from the mid-2000s):

I get what you are saying... I think you have to look at it from the marketing perspective.. who are the potential buyers for a Land Rover? What will catch their eye?

This shit on the other hand... hilarious...

A lot of the ads here for utes/pickups have some form of moto in them.

There's another one for the Mazda with a father and son on KX's, 85 and a 250 or 450F.
Toyota had one recently with some dudes sitting in the tray at a track while their mate jumps over them in slow motion and asks about the deals.

It's Cal Worthington and his dog Spot!

I kinda like the VW commercials they're running during World Cup with the different countries trying to get Americans to root for their team. Not terribly creative, but a little funny.

I think metaphorically the Range Rover commercial is showing you’re the alpha in the wolf pack because you’re driving that vehicle. Still stupid.

I remember the first Range Rover commercial when they started importing them again back in 1986. Much better than the current ones.

The new chevy pickup one is pretty cool. It shows people keeping work trucks a really long time.
In the end dents and scrapes happen, that your not going to get fixed.
