Cali-fires paint job!

In 86 I had just quit the fire dept. About a month later there was a major fire that threatened my home.
Got home just in time to send the puppers to safety and start saving the house. We did an air drop in the backyard
had 3 engines in the driveway and after getting the field under control behind the house everyone had to leave to go protect other structures. Shortly thereafter the fire picked up again and jumped the driveway after that it was all me and a garden hose. Wasn't anything within 10-15 feet of the house standing when I was done. Left a very big impact that day, I don't want to die by fire! It was quite rural back then and to get the puppers to safety I gave my keys to a total stranger threw my dogs in the car and asked them to just drive anywhere to safety. Had no idea who I gave my keys to. We lost a lot of homes in that fire, I feel very bad for the folks going through that. Disasters bring out a lot of good in people, unfortunately disasters bring out a lot of shitty in people too. Fu**ing looters.

Pink roof.

Crazy it busted out his truck window. Hopefully that saved the guys house. Another 10 feet it looked like he could have wheel taped the house.

He took it pretty well. If it helped save his house, it's worth it. Wonder how hard that pink is to get off after it's baked in the sun for a while?

Looked like damage to the roof of the house, too. But that vs. no house? I'd take that every day.

I was driving on the 241 here in So. Cal just after they'd reopened it following a fire. They were using pressure washers to clean up the highway.

That shit was hell on car paint. Up until 1983 or so our fire engines were your basic auto enamel. If we got painted it was a mad rush to get it washed off. Some engines ended up with a pinkish tint to them. In 1983 our equipment was delivered with Imron paint which was way more resistant to phoscheck but harder to repair if dinged or scraped.

at least your house shouldn't burn. They probably dumped 10 grand worth of fire retardant on your house.

Should've got a drop or two on the camera lens so we could see the DC-10 wheel tap.

We had several fires here in August with one started by a fried bird on the power line right below our school. I hauled ass up there and got 3 shots with my phone and one of em made it on the news. Luckily, it was flying to a huge fire South (you can see the smoke in background) and swung in to help with only 2 drops. A Forest Service lady told me that the other fire jumped the road and burned another 3000 acres because of this little 'Save North Lake Co. School diversion'.

Hopefully they use Sherwin Williams...
