Anyone know of any that consistently offer more than that salary? If not, what's the closest you know of?

Well i work a buttload of Over time, sometimes 30 hours a week. Nothing to make 90K +.

I work in shipping/receiving in a tier 3 automotive manufacturer. No college degree...yet.

Some guys on the floor make over 100K pretty easy and run machines.

How 'bout anything with base pay where you'd get close to 90K without overtime? I used to be both a journeyman diesel mechanic/fabricator and a welder, and the most I made was low $20's/hr. That was back in the late 1980's.

Journey Electricians on prevailing wage work fetch over $50/hr. 90K a year these days isn't really that much.

Mining industry.

I know some of the guys in the Morenci boiler maker shop are at 30 + an hour, plus company housing, full med, constant overtime, and in some cases a company vehicle........gets close to 90K.
I've known a few forest firefighters that make that and more in a season due to overtime.

So, it sounds like either a lot of overtime, or union jobs where you might possibly be laid off for part of the year, right?

I'm just burned out on white collar stuff. Used to do the blue collar thing a long time ago. I knew I'd miss aspects of it. I'd take a pay cut, but I need at least 90K/yr to meet my goals.

Oh, and working double time to make 90k gross doesn't cut it. Uncle Sam loved the crap out of me when I'd work too much overtime.

I'll be preserving myself in about an hour and a half. Speaking of blue collar activities, did you use that blade I welded for you much after I welded it? I'm curious whether it held up.

Unit C-14 in Tampa, eh? Sounds like a successful, high dollar organization.

Welders and pipefitters in Ft. MacMurray and even closer to Edmonton are clearing well over a 100K a year. There's 40-50 billion in new upgraders and refineries going up that they're about to break ground on. Should be bank for the trades for a few years to come.

The drill rig guys make great coin too, but there's a lot of isolation and time away from the family to get it.

How much risk are you willing to take on? That diesel wrenching background can net you more bank than you can possibly imagine..........and some of it can be tax free. I'm talking 200K first year, 300K 2nd.

Your wife won't dig it (or maybe she will?), but the benefits are great, including provided life/disability and health insurance.

You'll get paid to come home 2x a year.

The downside is..........you may show up on the evening news getting your head whacked off..........but hey, life is full of challenges.

Nothing out there will put a grinding screeching hault to the ol' mid life crisis like a few months in the sandbox.

Alternatively, you can just do what every other middle class American male does when they hit that point:

Choose one:

1. Affair with stupid 20 something blonde with fake tits. (may cost 1/2 your current assets).
2. Buy a 70's muscle car.
3. Buy a harley.
4. Get your wife drunk and "accidently" poke her in the poop shoot (may also cost 1/2 current assets).
5. Become a functioning alcoholic. It won't solve anything, but it'll make the time you have left go a lot faster.
