Been going through the memory lane thread, seeing some old game stuff from back in the day. For those of us that remember when you would see video games damn near everywhere, list your all time top 5 you dumped endless quarters into....... My picks in no order;

Tron, Super Mario Bros., Excitebike, Yie-ar Kung Fu, Robotron. What did you guys blow your quarters on??

One of my best friends bought our local arcade that we used to hang out in for many years even before I lived here but would visit my grandparent's and almost live in that arcade.
He turned it into a century21 and I was pissed at first but the arcade cost me money and the C21 made me money. Lol still miss that arcade. I would go straight to Tron or excitebike. Had Galaga and Tommy The Pinball Wizard at my house for years.

In order of how many $'s I spent at the arcade:

1. Donkey Kong
2. Missile Command
3. PacMan
4. DigDug
5. ANY pinball machine

Had I invested all of those quarters, I probably would have been Financial Independent years before....

Spy Hunter
Rampage
Altered Beast
Street Fighter II
Mortal Combat

Street Fighter II is where most of my money was spent. There was an arcade down the street called Funcade in Carson, Ca. Went there everyday after school. They even held Street Fighter II tournaments. It was an awesome time. Come the weekend, my friends and I would go to the mall and spank everyone. Funny how many fights we would get in over beating someone on an arcade game. Best part is 31 years later its one of the few games I'm still good at.

Got me to thinking a bit last night, who remembers the arcade tent at Ponca in the pits? That place was hopping at night after the motos were done for the day. Dozens of high end BMX bikes all turned upside down outside, jukebox blaring whatever 80's tune was popular at the time, kids everywhere. Kids today have no idea what fun they've missed out on.......

I did the same at the skate rink and bowling alley. There was always a line up to play the bloody thing though.

Cobra Command
Smash TV and Total Carnage
Sinistar
Moon Patrol
Star Wars (the sit-in kind)

I still remember the theme song from Cobra Command.

Our local arcade had a few air hockey tables that my friends and I became legends on. We would stop the pucks with our paddles and we learned how to shoot them off the table with expert aim. It helped us meet chicks more than a few times. ("Oh sorry, I didn't mean to hit you with that 100 MPH yellow missle! Let me buy you a Coke...")

USA vs. Russia dome hockey
The dome hockey would get so violent the game would be clear on the other side of the room when we were finished several hours later. I can't confirm my oldest brother was a thief but our dad owned a pop machine and he never seemed to run out of quarters.
