Just wanting to see if anyone on here works in the tire industry? Whether at an independent tire dealer or manufacturer?

Before I purchased my last set of tires I investigated tires/sizes/type/prices for over 6 months...I knew more than the guy at Discount Tire by the time I bought them..Laughing

lol thanks for the tip. My question was more of an attempt to see if anyone worked in the industry. I worked for Michelin in the commercial division and work for a construction tire manufacturer now. What tires are you running on your rig?

I ran 2 sets of Michelin’s on my Pete, but my last job dictated a whole new direction. Ran Firestone 691’s for a few years, with good results. Michelin is the best tire, but they are a little more expensive. However, if you can get fleet pricing, through a national account, they are pretty competitive.
Ran XZA3’s on my steer axle, and they were awesome. My last set lasted 120,000 miles, wore flat as a table top, right to the end. Used the balance beads in them.

Nice. I sold a lot of XZA3+’s, which is now the X Line Energy Z. Had a fleet getting 220,000 miles consistently with proper mounting and regular alignments. Firestone makes a good tire, as it’s just old Bridgestone technology in most cases.

Michelins .. LTX AT2s get sidewall spider cracks within a year. They don't even feel like rubber. Not s structural problem really and not deep, just sidewall mostly 1mm deep or so.
Goodyears never did that. Firestone after about 3 years.

I worked for Les Schwab Tires about 20 years ago for about 5 years. Great job straight out of high school. Taught me a lot. His book is a good read on how he built his business........
