I was just wondering if anybody else had heard anything about Colt not making AR’s for the public anymore?

I'd say they got out because prices have gotten so low from all the competition. You can get a decent ar15 for <$500, not including optics.

Yeah, I’d say that sounds about right. Their market is definitely with the government. With everything else going on pertaining to AR’s I never even thought about that. I wonder if you can still buy an upper and lower and build one?

And yet in 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground(anybody know?). Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... the A-Team

Colt is hanging by a thread and should have closed their doors years ago. They would be better off selling the brand because the "Colt " name still has some value but the way they do business will eventually put them out of business all together, even if they do have government contracts because there are better company's bidding on the same contracts.

Yes, I agree. I looked into buying a Colt for a while, even though their prices are substantially higher. I wanted one mainly because of the name, I’m not going to lie. I have a feeling you’re right, they will be out bid soon and lose their military contract. As a matter fact, I think it may already be in the works (opinion, not fact).

Sub $500 AR platform guns are really not "decent". They're single stage triggers with light barrels and generally no rail to speak of.

They'll fire a round down range, but it's not "nice" by any means.

Hell yeah. . . Newmann's back.

Buy one while you can as it will never lose value.

Yeah, true. Like the OMNI Hybrids. That is a decent weapon, but with the synthetic lower and all the problems they’ve had with it, not worth it.

Exactly! It has been said that they are the oldest and most successful American firearm distributor. I don’t see how you can go wrong with that?

It was also the fact that they have 2 warehouses full to brim to cover sales for quite a few years.

Nice weapon! Is that a continuous full auto or “burst” fire auto?

I don't own a Colt anything. Not because I don't like Colt, I just don't.
My "theoretical" AR is a Stag. It's got some doo dads that are good. One of which is a proper rifle stock.
I would have done some trigger work, if I actually had one, I would lighten it up a tad because I like light.

Irrespective, if I get offered $100.00 in a mandatory buyback? Someone needs to make an "O" with their lips.

It better be closer to a grand....if I had one of those evil bastards.

Colt is bailing because of the multitude of people making AR stuff.
For anyone worried, don't yet.
14 months from now? Better get out there and say your piece.

Read about it a few days ago. Makes sense though. I wouldn't buy a Colt...... Newmanns being the exception for collector reasons.

So this is off topic a little, but I recommend you guys check out Windham Weaponry if you haven’t already. I have one (7.62 x 39) that I haven’t even taken to the range yet, but I cant wait. I can’t speak on their quality yet, but I know they have a cool background story. Previously Bushmaster.

Always wanted a 17L long slide 9mm. Finally got one, a gen 3, and after shooting it a small amount decided it didn't impress me all that much. Added a tungsten guide rod, Zev trigger, good sights and a mag extender/weight in an attempt to balance it out but still just doesn't feel right to me. Pretty damn straight shooter though.

Had a local firearms instructor let me shoot his Zev Dragonfly and that thing was a blast.
