Just pulled the motor outta this turd the other night. Needs alot of body work. Framerails and Floorpans are shot. But anyone into these imports? Gonna make this a one of a kind with some american muscle love.

Turd? I smoked several Irocs and Mustangs with an 83 model turd that talked to ya when you left the lights on or opened the door. That thing ran like a scalded ass ape. 35 mph in 1st, 70 in 2nd and blanked the digital dash in 3rd with 2 to go. It did it with authority. If you ran it up in 1st and didn't change gears but just slammed the clutch in, you could sling it to 43 and 78 in second if you did the same thing. I could pull 3rd gear power slides on dry pavement across the HS parking lot coming out of 2nd. 4 wheel disc brakes, short turn steering, short shift linkage, limited slip rear end, hand emergency brake low profile wide tires with super light aluminum rims, the car was way ahead of its time. You could actually feel the g's when you hung a turn with it. It was an absolute blast. Why ruin it with American muscle? The engine was pretty much the same as a 250 Chevy with great injection to start with and was half the fun of the car. A build 250 6 was no slouch.

I was planning on throwing a chevy crate motor in it. That engine has just about ran its life. The "turd" emphasis was on the body. Theres a ridiculous amount of rust. Keep on finding new holes. But yeah the I6s are good but i have no clue where to source parts.

I realized that after I reread it, sorry I misunderstood. I'm a little defensive because it was my favorite vehicle of all time that I've owned. I'm still pissed about how I lost mine. It was parked in the mall parking lot and some 80 year old women ran straight into the side of it at around 35 mph. Just like that my Duke of Hazard days were over because I never found another car like that one. Old bitch probably did me a favor lol.

Anyone know a good way on attacking the frame rails? I was thinking about cutting out some rectangular tubing and just slipping it over and tack welding it on. Ill post some pics of the rails and floor pans later tomorrow.

I`ve been on the market for a 300 zx TT for a while. They haven`t gotten the Supra bump yet but they're starting to climb in price.
That thing is sweet. I was thinking around the same thing power plant wise. Plus a candy red coat and a custom made interior and dash.

My Dad was a Datsun dealer in the 70s and 80s. Needless to say, one of my first cars was a 73 240z, then a 74 260z, both used and finally a brand new, 1980 280zx Anniversary. Looking back, the 240z was my favourite before they added the 5 mph bumpers and pollution crap. Picture isn't mine, but same car. Mine was number 273.

Z cars are cool AF. Id never shoe-horn a ho-hum SBC into a classic, but different strokes for different folks.

Check out b is for build on youtube. He did an awesome job shoving a BMW V10 into an older 240 and then adding a widebody kit. Obviously I haven't seen it up close, but it looks killer in the vids.

Nice! When I broke my back racing I got a 1990 300zx twin turbo to keep me sane without moto. Beautiful cars and ahead of their time forsure.I spent 2 years modding it and ended up selling it a few years ago to get bikes again haha.

I was in search of a widebody kit for this car. But sourcing parts for a 280zx is so damn hard.

Drove a 71 datsun pu from 14 till in my 20s. Still have it.

Took a 610 drivetrain ,2 litre, built it in my basement bedroom, rolled it out in a wheelbarrow and dropped it in under a tree. High compression, cam, homemade square flange intake for Holley but a quadrajet was best.

Later, took a 280 and put in a 76 pu. , cut the grill, and moved the radiator in a brush guard. Bolts right in.

Good times

Ive made manifolds before, even one for an Allis-Chalmers WD-45 we tractor pulled with.

Would LOVE to see that homegrown manifold. Nothin' wrong with a modded Rochester QJ.

On my first stock car we used the Carter AVS on my HP383 because it had mechanical secondaries and was OEM so it was legal.

Let me know if you ever want to sell the truck.
I'll always have a soft spot for that dang truck.
