I'm looking to buy my first Corvette, looking at C6's. Any advice from others that may have one? Let's see some pictures if you have one.

We are going to the Mecum Auction in PA this weekend but they don't have any Vette's listed that I would be interested in. They will have a real nice ZR1 but I think that will go way out of my price range. I am hopefully going to look at a 2010 Grand Sport on Sunday in Maryland on the way back.

I briefly looked a camero's awhile back. 2012/13 ZL1's could be had for low to mid 30's in my area. Just something to ponder if you haven't.

I have never really liked the the new Camaros. The 2010-2013 Grand Sport Vette's are in that same price range.

My daughter leased a 2006 C6 and when she got pregnant I took over the last year of her lease. What a amazing car! For the price you cant beat them. As I get older I don’t want to climb up from anything that low but I sure love Vettes. Share pics if you find one 👍

One of my friends has owned a C6 Z06, a C6 ZR1, and a Z51 package C5. He likes the C5 the best but he mostly uses it for track days. He is 95% as fast with the C5 and would only be out $15k if he wrecks it compared to $65k for the ZR1 he had.

The C5 and C6 are remarkably similar chassis/suspension wise, the C6's just get slightly better engines and a much nicer interior.

Edit: will say I drove both of the C6's, and I liked the ZR1. Clutch felt better and enjoyed the torque. Could get to nearly the same spot with a supercharger on a base C6 though.

I like the exterior of the C5's but just can't get past the cheap looking interior. The C6 is definitely what I have settled on and leaning towards a Grand Sport. The Z06 is more than I need and I've been reading about them having head problems. A ZR1 would be nice, but way out of my price range.

Agree completely. The C5 interior feels like a 1995 Cavalier.

Z06 might have higher resale than the Grand Sports but they don't have sound deadening in some key spots (I was surprised at the audible valvetrain noise in his) and you're right about the heads too. They have titanium valves and have occasionally had issues.

The Cavalier is a great analogy, thanks for the laugh. I've heard the Grand Sports have a nicer ride for just cruising too. I looked at a red 2008 Z06 today that was incredibly clean but I couldn't pull the trigger.

What year did they shorten the Corvette? Sometime in the 2000’s. Shortened it 6 or 12 inches. Made a huge difference in styling. The current style is very nice and one of my favorite sports cars.

I've only had two C-4's, an 88 and a 96 LT4.. Loved the 6 speed.

The one I am going to look at Sunday is a 2010 Grand Sport in the white also, it has 12k miles and he is asking just under $35k so your friend is not too far off. Of course that is just asking price. I am looking for one that is mostly stock. Your friends is nice though.

I had a 1990 Vette with a 6 speed. Fun car but was a pain in the ass to use when the kids were little. Had to take two cars if we were going to go anywhere.

My kids are grown and hardly hang out with us anymore so I thought it would be fun to get something for my wife and I to cruise around in. I can see how it wouldn't have been worth it when they were little.

Drove it home from Maryland yesterday. 2010 Grand Sport, looks almost new inside and out.

True, none are actually "sold" so far. But the deposits are nearly all taken for the 2020 production run. Hard to say how many of those won't go through with ordering and purchasing, though.

What features does the GS have? Better performance?

The Grand Sport comes with Z06 brakes as well as upgraded suspension components. It also has the wide body panels and the dry sump oil system in the manual transmission version. I think there are a few other options, but that is all I know of.
