Saw a prop plane land a few years ago with no nose gear.

Circled for a few hours to run her down on fuel, landed it straight and set her down nice and easy. The fuckin news choppers were all over it hoping for a catastrophe but the guy radiod back numerous times he'd landed military planes with no gear at all, and it wasnt a big deal.

He was right. Hell he didnt even get off the centerline when the nose came down. It was so gentle, I bet the bottom wasnt even dented. He came in with some speed though, chopped the engines and glided her in super gently. Great pilot.

If you keep your head screwed on straight those types of landings shouldnt be that big a deal.

Ive seen a nose-gear landing where the front tire literally broke off during touch-&-go at Hooks Field. He just kept the nose up long as he could and eventually he did strike the prop. Brand new Black-Mac prop was toast.

Three JB airplanes have had the same problem....only one has made the news.

Is that the one that landed at LAX a few years ago? The people inside the plane were actually watching it all on live TV while it was going on, that would've been the worst part.

That was 6 years ago.

That airplane is still flying with JB, on the inside of the nose gear bay door it is painted in the same stenciling as the tail-number "'ol sparky"...
