I gots one, its good for what it is. Kinda like a dual sport bike, not enough of either discipline to be very impressive.
It's funny that is the exact thought that popped into my mind when I saw it (dual sport).
It appears to use acoustic strings and I would bet it makes a fine electrified acoustic but not be a great electric. I realize you can run any effects you want to make an acoustic sound pretty much like any electric but it's not the same as playing an electric. I'm sure Billy could make it ring though.
Its kinda tinny (thin) sounding when played acoustic, but it has Fishman electronics, which sound pretty good when plugged in. Playability is pretty close to a standard strat IMO.
I ended up going with a Taylor Dreadnought DN8 with pickup + microphone combo. Best money spent ever.
About the acousticsonic tele, I like how lightweight it was, neck profile, responsive, and was so easy to play --but still sounds like acoustic with the bends of a tele. But for that price you could get an American Standard Deluxe.... I'd go that route.
Guitars can be a little like golf clubs or fishing lures at times. I'm still rocking the custom clubs my buddy made for me 9 years ago other than a blingy new driver every couple of years to keep up with the Woodses.
