What makes 80s action flicks so damn cool? It Could be the best decade ever for action films. I was watching delta force and it brought back memories of being a kid and I forgot why I loved it. McCoy rides a “rocket launcher dirtbike”. Opinions on the best 80s action? Anyone know who did the stunt riding? You clearly can tell it wasn’t chuck.

My brother and I talk about that sometimes. There's just something so cool about that era. Some of them are so cheesy they're good. They sure don't make them like they used to that's for sure.

Rambo: First Blood (1982)
Missing in Action (1984)
The Karate Kid (1984)
The Terminator (1984)
Commando (1985)
Police Story (1985)
Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985)
The Protector (1985)
Platoon (1986)
Lethal Weapon (1987)
Over The Top (1987)
Bloodsport (1988)
Die Hard (1988)
Police Story 2 (1988)
Kickboxer (1989)
Road House (1989)
Double Impact (1991)

Maverick, agreed. not only cheesy but you could call them out right comedies. Sometimes I laugh at these classics more than the new comedies they put out. Gotta be some Rocky on that list in the 80s as well

The guy that was Chuck Norris' body double and did the stunts was Jon H. Epstein. He was his stunt double for quite a few movies actually.

Most of the movies listed were before my brother and I's time but each time I come across 80's or 90's movies on TV I just have to put them on. There's just something about them we like. Some of those Jean-Claude Van Damme movies we can pretty much say line for line as the movie plays.

Probably seen The Karate Kid, Bloodsport, Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, Road House over 20 times now lol. And I still keep watching them when they play. No trick CGI or barely any and when it does make an appearance it's just so obvious it's laughable.

I've easily seen Rocky marathons more than 10 times. Still can't stand Rocky V.

Love me some 80's action movies.

Edit: I mean just look at my name and avatar.

I would go rent shitloads of '80s action movies when I was little, I enjoy a lot of early '90s stuff too.
'70s stuff is fucken awesome too, like Dirty Harry, Death Wish and that sort of thing.

Not a fan of modern movies at all.

Universal soldier but that might be 90's.
Fucking love when Dolph goes full Post traumatic in the supermarket loading his soldiers in the meat section. He deserved a Fucking Oscar!! One of life's injustices.

I forgot how great Running Scared with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines is, until I watched it again the other night. Probably the first time I'v seen it since it was in theaters back in '87.

There was a multi page thread a few months back specifically around 80’s movies. Lots of gems out there.

Hard Times with Bronson and Lou Gossett Jr. is a classic but doesn't quite make the 80s (1975).

Cult classics? Posted a bunch in there. Not all from the 80's though.

Mav, do you know Jon ? He and I were tight back in the 70's before he moved west and became the "stuntman of the stars" ,lol. He was an AMA pro back then and we travelled to a lot of the Nationals and qualifiers together. He came home to visit his parents a few months back, and we got together and had a 3 hour lunch and reminisced about the old days. What a great dude !! I really missed him being around !!

I have no idea who he is. Quick Google search and found out he was Chuck Norris' body double/stuntman. He's performed stunts in 206 movies and he's still doing them. That must really take a toll on the body over 25+ years of stunt work.

Was he a good MX racer? I mean obviously he was since he raced pro but I guess what I meant to say was did he have any big success?

Jonny was a really fast local Pro, Im sure he qualified for some Nationals ,but can't remember if he scored any Nat points. He moved to California right in the midst of when our group of 5 or 6 hot shots were trying to make our mark ,lol. We crammed in 30 years of history during our 3 hour lunch awhile back, I'd love to hear more of his stories ,because the ones he told me were incredible. I will state the obvious---if you are CHUCK NORRIS' stuntman ,then you know you're a complete badass . But yes that line of work certainly can beat you up,but believe it or not even at nearly 60, he's in damn good shape and moving like a kid half his age.

Just watched it recently 1978 deer hunter. I wasn't even born at that time but I find it interesting for the fact western Pa still seems to look pretty much the same. Of course it’s an awesome flick for you youngsters to check out if you haven’t.

I saw this movie a few months ago, and it is friggin great... The Russian roulette scene wasn't the easiest for me to watch (not a fan of seeing people shot in the head, it's messy) but I think it's what made the movie so intense.

The wedding scene was painfully long, but great movie. I saw it in the theater when it came out but I'm frickin old!

You don't look like a Tanaka lol.

Business guys slips money into the referee's jacket to look the other way because he's about to be disqualified for being late....5 seconds later Van Damme show up. Business man already has his hand in the referee's jacket to grab his money back lol.

Love that movie.
