My sister bought an auction property...10 acres in Athol, Idaho. I drove up this weekend to check their new spot out. My nephew and I walked through the property (thick woods) and found this 69 Honda cb350 left for dead buried in the trees! It's a pretty damn complete bike. I helped him drag/lift the pig out of the woods. The brakes were locked up and it looks like it's been there for quite a while. We showed his mom and she said he could have it.
Do any of you guys have suggestions on how to make as much money on this thing as possible? He's worked all summer and has about $800 saved up for his first dirt bike. I've been letting him ride my boys PW50 and he's ridden a KX65. He is hooked and has cut out pics from MXA all over his bedroom walls. His parents won't let him get a 85 until he has enough money to pay for the bike, gear and his first doctor's visit. Hopefully this woods find will help him get close!

It's the small, weird stuff that, sold in pieces, may bring a bit of money.

Take it all apart, someone somewhere is looking for that front fender, or fender mounting bracket, or engine, or battery cage. Pieced out, especially with no title, will bring the most.
Cheers to dudes like you for helping the kid get outdoors and riding.
The Shop
I did a full restore on a 69 CL450 that was given to me back in 2007. Every nut, bolt, cam chain pin, and detail was taken into account. The only thing that didn't get restored or replaced were the original bias ply tires. I put about $5,000 into the bike and what felt like 5,000 hours. It came out incredible and I'm extremely proud of it. I'm not extremely proud of selling it for $3500 a few years back when starting a business.
If your goal is to make money, look elsewhere. If you want to turn this into an opportunity to bond, grow together, and teach him a few life lessons on delayed gratification, stretching a dollar, being resourceful, and pouring your heart into something, I think it'd be a cool project to work on together.
My project lost me $1500 but the value of completing it was worth every penny.
He did find a 83yr old neighbor who needs help with her 20acres. He is a hard worker, I am sure he will make it happen!
How bad does the inside of the tank look?
I recently bought 1974 CL450 that just so happen to need a blue tank. Not exactly sure if the tank would fit or not. Maybe someone that knows more than me can chim in.
Good memories !!
I start his cars once a month and tool the 350 up the road same day.
They needed squirter carbs
