I saw that. I think the saddest part about the whole thing is knowing the fact that all those great actors are getting up there in age.

Clint Eastwood is what the studios dream of from an efficiency standpoint. He shot Richard Jewell THIS SUMMER. They wrapped in July I believe, and it'll be released in December. This is partially because of his one take technique, but he's also just extremely efficient. I just hope the quality is more on the level of The Mule and less of The 15:17 to Paris. The latter of the two was a train wreck of a film.

Oh, I agree. The Mule definitely wasn't a great film. I'd give it a 5 or 6 out of 10, but all I can really expect from Clint these days is a watchable film, not a great one.

Roger Deakins is one of the best cinematographers in the history of film (he worked on No Country for Old Men, True Grit, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Skyfall, Prisoners, Sicario, and Blade Runner 2049), and it’s been stated that he shot 1917 to appear as one continuous shot. I have high hopes for it in general but it’s gonna be worth the watch just to see how well he executed the technique.
