I'm looking at chopping in my 5.0 Mustang for one of these. I have always loved how they look and always wanted one and they are really really rare over here. (probably worked out I love American muscle cars)
I appear to have found a good one at a decent price but was wondering if anyone knows what I should look out for when buying it. (I really don't care about fuel mileage either as it won't get driven enough for that to be an issue)
Also I'm a bit confused at the engine. It's the 6.4 but the advert says it's putting out 550bhp with a remap. Did some of these cars come without the supercharger? As I thought it was 5.7 that came naturally aspirated and all the 6.4 were supercharged putting out about 707bhp.
Needless to say Google has not been helpful. Cheers!

Srt8 has a 6.4 liter v8
Rt has 5.7 liter v8
Hellcat has 6.2 liter supercharged v8.
Chargers all come automatic.
Challengers can be had 6 speed manual.
The Shop
I tend to try and avoid anything made my Chrysler with an automatic transmission. Mine was a 6spd, black paint with blackout kit.
Except for cheap insanely thin paint and clear coat that started to chip and peel after about 3-4 years from the littlest scratch or ding and an interior with some places made of plastic that has a vinyl wrap, it was honest a solid and reliable car.
Best part? Because of the manual, I’d get like 28-31mph with the cruise at 80-90mph. Thing loved the open road.
But yeah, if cheap interior trimmings and questionable paint won’t bother you then go for it.
Very comfortable, reliable, fun and fuel efficient for what they are. It was a perfect state to state trip car.
My only issues from 10mi leaving the dealer to 127k miles.
- replaced ac comp
- replaced the roof to frame strips
- replaced passenger winder seal
- replaced headlight bulbs 2x
That’s about it. Beyond that, I’d much rather have a 300c then a Charger but to each their own.
P.s. don’t ever own a new black car unless you own a detail shop 😂
I can't bring myself to pay that 😂
Those escorts are stupid money now! Might get a supercharged Jaguar or something.
Were you ever based at Mildenhall? Really cool watching the US airforce doing it's thing in between riding.
Pit Row
My wife lets me drive her '15 SRT every now and then. It only has 15,000 miles on it. Only problem was a wheel speed sensor at 13,500 miles.
Power to the guy but it’s no more useful than my Ram 1500 with a 5.7.
It drives pavement all day and I’ve yet to see anything in the bed or hooked up to the receiver. He could have got a nice truck for $60k and spent $10k on a Procharger.
