2015 Dodge Charger SRT

Edited Date/Time 7/22/2022 8:26am
I'm looking at chopping in my 5.0 Mustang for one of these. I have always loved how they look and always wanted one and they are really really rare over here. (probably worked out I love American muscle cars)

I appear to have found a good one at a decent price but was wondering if anyone knows what I should look out for when buying it. (I really don't care about fuel mileage either as it won't get driven enough for that to be an issue)

Also I'm a bit confused at the engine. It's the 6.4 but the advert says it's putting out 550bhp with a remap. Did some of these cars come without the supercharger? As I thought it was 5.7 that came naturally aspirated and all the 6.4 were supercharged putting out about 707bhp.

Needless to say Google has not been helpful. Cheers!

I have a Jeep Srt with the 6.4 and love it . I also had a 300 Srt with the 6.1 but just sold it this week. Only bad thing on the cars is the ball joints, tierod ends, and sway bar links go bad . Fun Cars

I had a SRT Challenger for a couple of years and absolutely loved it. I found myself driving like a crazy teenager (I’m 62) and got rid of it while I still had my license. When I’d turn off the traction control it was absolutely wild! Nothing quite like an American muscle car. Have fun!

Yeah there is nothing like them! Apart from the tree shaggers people over here love seeing them, had so many random conversations about my bog standard s550

I was going to get a challenger as they are much more common than the chargers here but when this one came up I couldn't believe my luck!

I had a ‘16 RT and my experience fwiw:

I tend to try and avoid anything made my Chrysler with an automatic transmission. Mine was a 6spd, black paint with blackout kit.

Except for cheap insanely thin paint and clear coat that started to chip and peel after about 3-4 years from the littlest scratch or ding and an interior with some places made of plastic that has a vinyl wrap, it was honest a solid and reliable car.

Best part? Because of the manual, I’d get like 28-31mph with the cruise at 80-90mph. Thing loved the open road.

But yeah, if cheap interior trimmings and questionable paint won’t bother you then go for it.

Very comfortable, reliable, fun and fuel efficient for what they are. It was a perfect state to state trip car.

My only issues from 10mi leaving the dealer to 127k miles.

- replaced ac comp
- replaced the roof to frame strips
- replaced passenger winder seal
- replaced headlight bulbs 2x

That’s about it. Beyond that, I’d much rather have a 300c then a Charger but to each their own.

P.s. don’t ever own a new black car unless you own a detail shop 😂

That’s gotta be some of the most fun you can have with your pants on.

Well that's out of the window, due to it being an import they want equivalent of $4,000 to insure it!

I can't bring myself to pay that 😂

Lol...when I was stationed at RAF Bentwaters back in the '80's, I had shipped my little 302 Maverick over. Cam, headers, etc. I could barely afford liability...forget full coverage. I think Lloyd's was the only one that would touch a left hand drive. Find an old Cosworth Escort and let 'er eat.Cool

Apparently it isn't usually that bad, but I may or may not have points on my licence for speeding😅

Those escorts are stupid money now! Might get a supercharged Jaguar or something.

Met a guy in Oklahoma City years ago. His deal was putting Grand National nascar engines in '70's Jags. Those long nosed bastards are perfect for stuffing monster motors into. Always liked a car that purrs along at a ton fifty...ALL DAY LONG.

I came back to the states from my first tour in England in 1980...stateside speed limit was 55. I lost my license pretty quick.

Ha! My cousin is married to an American soldier who now lives over here, he says he has to be careful when he goes back to the states.

Were you ever based at Mildenhall? Really cool watching the US airforce doing it's thing in between riding.

There has to be some kind of supercharged AMG like an E55/C63 that could get you close to the feeling of a Charger.

Hell yes. '77-'80 at Mildenhall. Lived in Beck Row (we called it skid row). It's all gentrified now but back then the church common held a race there once a year. It was my back yard and I rode my MX400 there all the time. I'd take country lanes over to the sand pits behind Lakenheath village and ride. Pete Bavin from Diss showed me how to go fast in the sand there. I'd move to England in a heartbeat but I ain't got the money to live there.

My wife lets me drive her '15 SRT every now and then. It only has 15,000 miles on it. Only problem was a wheel speed sensor at 13,500 miles.

Drove my friends TRX the other day because I was thinking about getting one and all I can say is DAMN, that is a fun ride. Can't fathom the 100k+ price though. Not to mention the 10mpg average at best.

My neighbor has one. $110k.
Power to the guy but it’s no more useful than my Ram 1500 with a 5.7.
It drives pavement all day and I’ve yet to see anything in the bed or hooked up to the receiver. He could have got a nice truck for $60k and spent $10k on a Procharger.

Exactly how I feel. My 2019 Laramie is more than enough, plus the TRX dives a lot more under braking and turns, so I know the Lady would hate it. She complains about riding in mine as it is. hahaha

I'm actually thinking of trading in my 2014 Ram 1500 5.7L for one of these. I love not having a car payment anymore but I'm really getting tired of lifting myself up into it and my shoulders are pretty tore up from old injuries and pushing this chair all day. I mostly work from home so I don't really care about gas mileage and I can't imagine myself getting just any ordinary car, it's gata be something badass like the Charger. I could never afford a Hellcat but for my own safety I need to stay away from that sort of power, I don't trust myself Tongue

I’ve been pining for an XFR for years. Top Gear’s review was great and very positive. Something different from the typical Deutsch product.
