yz250f or kx250f for beginner?

Hey everyone, new to this website so let me apologize in advance if this has been asked on here, But I have been looking at some newer model Kx250f's and Yz250f's to buy to get into some track riding, I have rode the track a few times on a 2003 Kx250(2 stroke) and 2011 Kx450f which is my friends bikes. I rode at Threepalms and Rio Bravo here in the Houston/Conroe area. I did fine on both bikes and Was able to clear a good amount of the jumps and ride smoothly through the corners, But I feel like a 250f would be perfect for me till I get decently better and more flow on the track. So my question is which bike would be better for me, Im looking at models at least 2014-2018. I have read a bit on both but would like other riders opinion, Which will feel lighter on the track and have better power throughout the low revs - mid range- and high. I would be keeping regular maintenance on the bike of course but which is more reliable ? and has better cornering ? Any reply would help, thanks in advance. Just wanting a good bike to get good on the track with.

Both bike's are garbage after three or four year's, just mess'n. Both are great and you can't go wrong with either. I gel with a 16 YZ 250F, plenty of power for a 57 year old and it's bullet proof, also thankful the bike bike starts on the 2nd kick...every time. Good deal's on 18 model's as I type.

I've heard really good things about the newest gen YZ's on rideable power and reliability. I think one of those bad boys would serve you well.

YZ is the way to go just for the suspension alone. The forks Yamaha uses are tried and true, nothing in the 250 class is better right now. The Kawi is a good bike too, but as you progress you'll have to put a lot more money into the forks and you'll never get them as good as the forks on the Yamaha. That said, there's some killer deals on the Kawi out there. With the money you could save over buying a Yamaha, you can get the Kawi forks pretty good and still come out cheaper.

Both are great bikes. I like the suspension on the Yamaha better out of the box. I’d say get whichever is your best deal on price and local dealer for support.

YZ250F is a great novice bike. Best suspension and the most power right off the bottom (where all beginners tend to ride)
