I took part in a study on attentional focus when I was rowing at university. After I did a session on the rowing machine, the guy doing the study told me that all the good guys in any sport don't listen to music when training. They're focussing on their effort, or their form - on doing everything precisely correct. So I don't listen to music when I'm training, and try to drown out the stuff they have blasting on over the gym speaker system!
That being said, I do get really pumped up listening to some music, but it's completely different to anything posted here: some grime and hip hop, future bass, electronic/house, etc. It often depends more on the song than the artist or genre though.
Kano - My Sound,
Miike Snow - Ghengis Khan, Silvia,
Most of the new Mura Masa album,
Jamie XX - Gosh
Tourist's most recent album,
Flume - Turning (collarbones remix (?) )
Actually, most of Flume's stuff is good,
Stormzy has a few belters.
At work right now, so I can't open spotify to have a sift through more stuff...
Or if you want something not quite as screamy.
Also basically anything else Three Days Grace has put out.
2) More Chevelle.
