With 2011 possibly being a supercross season you'll remember for the rest of your life, which supercross season stands out in your memory the most?

For me its a combination of 2005 and 2006.

2005 there was alot of really good racing with James Stewart, Ricky Carmichael, Chad Reed, and Kevin Windham all on top of their game. The last few rounds were really good (St Louis specifally, where there was that little right hander into a dragonback/elevation, where Chad Reed jumped literally right into RC's line and boned out on the step on step off coming off the elevation). I also remember the track James Stewart made his return on (Orlando?) The start went right into a sick rythm section (180 right) triple that JS259 was laying it flat on, rutted whoop section (90 right) double double where RC fell when he was wearing that all yellow setup (90 right) double into a long whoop section where James Stewart crashed with the helmet cam on (90 left) under the bridge (90 left) step on step off into a supercross triple (180 left with no berm where RC parked Kdub into the tuff blocks) then a long step on-on-off triple then the Finish line into a biiiig bowl turn that those 250 2 strokes were laying it over in. I loved that race.

Also 2006 was a geat season, James Stewart was the fastest rider hands down, but often hit the deck. He had great battles with Carmichael and at the end of the season Reeds consistancy put him right there and I think RC won the SX title by 2 points over James Stewart and 3 points over Chad Reed, then in the world championship James Stewart won the championship by I think 1 point over RC and 2 points over Reed. THAT was the closest season in points by far.

2006 was my favourite season, we had RC, Bubba, and Reed going down to the wire for the title....very exciting, and the best season in my book

What was the year LaRocco was in contention to win the championship before Travis broke his wrist by doing something stupid. That was a good year.

2006 was the best although as a Reed fan, I was always frustrated to see Chad have an apparent dislike for his later bikes. He never looked quite as good as he did in 03 and 04 to me, and I remember coming on message boards like this and arguing with the JS and RC fans lol. Very lame.

But it was a good season, it went right up until the last round in Vegas and there we're all kinds things happening right the way through. Ricky and James kept crashing out very uncharacteristically for RC, and then later there was the whole fuel debacal before Atlanta where Ricky and Suzuki were accused of cheating with, I f I remember correctly, too much lead in the fuel. Still have that season on DVD. An absolute classic.

1986 Anaheim was pretty epic. I wasn't born yet, but it was an epic season. My favorite of my lifetime so far has to be 2006. Great racing.

Yeah that was 2002.

The funny thing is the track where that happened was simply awesome, it was a really good layout imo. Though I can't remember what Rd/city it was I do remember the track because it looked so good. The Rd before it was Indy if anyone happens to know...

I think Travis came together with Larocco at the end of the whoops, which were raised like a stair case and ended with the very last whoop acting as a launcher for a small double. Very tricky section because you had to be fully committed if going for the outside line. RC won the race and DV passed Ezra on the very last lap for 3rd if I remember correctly. I seem to remember 02 having a lot of good circuits, as a spectator that is.

I have the bar 2 bar 2002 DVD. The great thing about that year it was when Bubba was going bonkers on the 125

I liked 2001 becuz that was the year RC dethroned the king!!! I was at Anaheim that year when RC came from the back, caught MC, passed his asss, then let MC back by! the crowd went nuts! he let mc by because there was contact in the pass and he didnt want MC to have an excuse! Also: who said MC was humble? I dont think he was: "they better watch out next week..." is one quote i remember mc saying

Yeah Bar to Bar 06 is the one I have. I think almost every SX season is available on Amazon over here, which is handy! 06 was also the year Denny Stephenson did the commentary lol.

2001. RC so out of control and barely hanging on. He won the 2000 250 MX title but was still very much unproven in 250 SX. 2001SX really was a standout year for him. As a perennial champion, Jeremy McGrath was primed for a battle and he did not disappoint. The contrast in riding styles was amazing to witness. MC was smooth as glass and RC was like a bull in a China shop yet they were still going about the same speed which made for unreal racing. Carmichael built his reputation as a guy who feeds on the words of nay-sayers during that series. He's too chubby, he's too short, etc. I took those insults personally because I actually am too chubby and too short but I digress :-) The ridiculous excitement level of the first few rounds made the rest of the series seem relatively unexciting once RC took over for good. That's just my 2 cents worth.

I was at the Anaheim race that MC had the lead early and everyone thought MC would check out and RC caught and passed him. It was crazy.

RC was out of control a lot...I would pay money to watch RC attempt to blitz a set of "hoopty-hoos" 20 times in a row. And I mean early 2000s sx whoops...not the pussy whoops they have these days.

I thought that was great also, to see Reed take it too him race after race with relative ease. Relax RC fans, it was just refreshing to see a bit of turn about. Reed was amazng on the 2 stroke and I wonder how diferent his career would have been had he not been forced to swich to the Hogs. Karma biting Yamaha in the ass for gettting to 4t ball rolling, they had the best 2t.

My fave SX season was 09 when Bubba had to win every race after his A-1 disaster and he came though. Chad never let the pressure off him, always finishing 2nd.

I was thinking that too.......Matiasevich, L. Ward, & Larocco were new, but we still had 'oldtimers' like Stanton, Johnson, & Wardy
It was also the first year that Pro-Circuit had a team in the 125 class.

2006 hands down, 3 lions at the top of their game. I was blown away at how fast they were all going!

1997 When McGrath struggled and fro took advantage. It was the 1st time in years MC didnt have it locked.

1993 MC as a rookie, Stanton, Michael Craig, Kiedrowski, Bradshaw, LaRocco. No one saw the wrath of MC comin!

My favorite is 1998 when MC was considered over the hill after his year on the Suzuki, He came out swinging on the Yamaha at A1 and totally kicked ass that year a few more years to come! Agree MC is the KING!
