Caution advisory only to racers, I think no passing or jumping with the red cross flag out. I think it's been explained her but I don't remember when.

Pro racing the yellows arent a "no passing" zone like they are in local racing, its basically just to let them know to pay attention because someone or some thing is in the track.

Cost Brock Sellards a race win in 2000 I believe. Don't remember which race though. AMA must have changed the rule since then? Because I thought the same thing watching tonight's race.

I 100% agree with you on this and was yelling at the tv "you can't pass on a yellow flag" my buddy disagrees w me because he said the forward momentum from the jump forced the pass but I say NAY ..... Anderson checked up and all 3 riders clearly saw the yellow flag especially if the LEADER Anderson saw it and I personally feel Eli most certainly took advantage of Anderson checking up and zipped right by on the inside. Imho, that was not 100% legit ....more of a grey area but I'm 51% it was not ok to pull that ....hopefully I'm not the only one that saw it that way but in a vicious circle kind of way ill bet Anderson doesn't let it happen again, thus continuing the legacy of riders that "miss" (ignore if they can get away with it) the yellow flag....just my .02 on the situation I dont want to set this place on fire over it but I disagree with the pass Eli put on Anderson but never saw Roczen do it immediately after Eli did it.

b. Warning Flags
1. Yellow Flag Or Yellow Light:
Waving Yellow Flag or Yellow Flashing Lights: Indicates
serious hazard on or near the track. This includes the
sighting or cool down laps.
• Passing is allowed
• Proceed with extreme caution.
2. Solid Blue Flag :
• Indicates you are about to be overtaken by faster
riders.
• When conditions allow, move out of the fast line.
• Hold your line (don’t ride erratically) and do not
impede the faster riders progress.
• Riders disregarding this flag may be black-flagged at
the discretion of Race Director.
3. White Flag with Red Cross:
In Supercross this flag or a red flashing light may be
displayed at the beginning of a triple jump or a series of
jumps. The riders must roll each jump individually with no
passing and exercise extreme caution until they are past the
area of concern, this includes the sighting or cool down

Lightning, Ill refer you to the posts made prior to yours by hut, TK, captmoto, and myself. If Anderson did indeed check up due to the yellow, then thats his mistake.

Yeah when I seen Tomac pass under yellow I thought WTF. But having read the posts above saying you can pass under yellow is a bit of an eye opener. The rule says " proceed with extreme caution" " passing is allowed" doesn't one rule contradict the other? How can you go bar to bar with someone fighting for position AND use extreme caution. Is this the only sport that allows you to pass under a yellow flag?

I find it funny how people read the first post, then comment 2 or three pages in without reading any other posts.

So a yellow flag means essentially nothing. Good to know.

It's always better to know the rules, beforce complaining about how they are enforced.

I asked Jason about it afterwards. He said he did check up a bit, but also felt that he would have been passed eventually regardless of that.

I will have to watch it again but It looked like Tomac was carrying a lot momentum when they approached the flags and they both proceeded with caution. It's not like they were twisting the throttle wide open and slamming each other blindly.

Can someone please refresh my memory on Sellards not getting a W after passing on a yellow? I'm pretty sure that's how it went, but my memory from age 9 isn't always the most reliable.

It's a tough deal for sure, but it didn't seem like anyone did anything dangerous. It's got to be a very difficult judgement call for the riders on the track.

what sucks.

is people in the sport all see that crap and then think it's ok to do on a local level.

yellow flag should mean no passing and the rest

but wait that would mean they would have to HIRE professional flaggers and rely on volunteers that get a t-shirt and a hot dog.

to be honest the crew that was flagging this event looked like they did pretty good job.

Overtake in Moto GP and you get a 10 second penalty if you don't acknowledge your mistake and drop the position you gained.

That some shit! I half-jumped on accident last year on a flag and lost all my points for that day. I even stopped too
