will the 2011 yz450 win any shootouts?

Edited Date/Time 1/27/2012 10:56am
that bike was hyped up to be the absolute most dominant bike ever built. I heard people saying every bike would have to copy that revolutionary design. although i heard that about hondas stupid dual mufflers! Honda said it balanced the bike. then i thought, hey when im in the air my bike doesnt fall over to the pipe side. LOL what a joke. If that Yamaha doesnt win any shootouts, it will look like yamaha failed to create a revolution. Viva la revolucion...not

Remember the people claiming how it felt lighter than a 250f, blah blah blah.. What a bunch of BS. The only bike it might beat in the shootouts is the KX unless someone else really dropped the ball with their setup/suspension.

I don't even think it will win the heaviest bike award. One pound shy of an 1/8th ton pig? Kawasaki has that extra pound don't they?

The only 2011 YZ450F that will win a shootout is the one that will be raced by #7 with the L&M graphics on it!

I love my 2010, it took a while to get used to it and it was hard to set up but now it's great.

Does the new engine angle really make that much of a difference from the conventional design ?

No, not really. It does feel lighter than the 09 450 when you are riding it, but putting it on the stand you realize how heavy it really is. I've always ridden yamaha so I am a bit partial, but I think it's a great bike.

That's exactly how I felt about my '98 KX250 in college before I was able to afford an '05 YZ250 and realized exactly how big of a pig that KX was. Ignorance is bliss sometimes.

I couldnt disagree more.My roommates both have 2010 kx450s.Rode them plenty and im really not a fan. There real fast ill give them that but the quality isnt there and i wasnt a fan of how they turned.Same with the 09 crf450 I had.I hated the thing. I had a 05,06,07 yz450 and 08, 09 crf450 and my 2010 yz is the best one I have had so far.

I ( unfortunately ) just sold my 2010 YZ450F.....but it wasn't because I didn't like it.....I actually really , really liked it! I think if i would have took the time to get everything dialed in for me , it would of been the best bike I ever owned.

One thing that was amazing about the bike was the stock suspension. I cased the living shit out of that thing a few times , but unlike my older Hondas , it NEVER bottomed! It was by far the best "stock" suspended bike I ever rode. I also thought it felt really thin and light in the air. really easy to throw around. It was a heavier bike , but in the air you wouldn't know it. And i think that was partially due to the design of the bike and the way everything is centrally located.

I ve heard nothing but good things about the new 450 Yamaha, and that is from real local riders, not magazine riders or editors! They actually have paid for their bike so they have nothing to gain or lose by their opinion!

I'm wondering what, if any of the reverse engine design they will incorporate into a redesigned YZ250F. That bike is long, long overdue for an engine upgrade. And if they spin the engine and exhaust around, add F.I. and everything associated with it will they add nine pounds to it too? On the small bike, that would not be a good thing.

So it sounds like if I am going to pick it up and carry it around the track it isn't the bike to have... but if I want the bike with the best box stock suspension and coolness factor it is the bike to have. Thanks for the info guys!

If the Honda is 12lbs lighter........ then the Yamaha could be 12lbs lighter. Whats the problem? Yamaha can't figure it out?

Honda shaves weight by putting no internals in the forks and shock.

A bike that corners good has the most appeal to me, you can dial in the suspension and motor but the handling is tough to modify. I am a Honda guy but the Suzuki 450 is calling me, it seem like the easiest bike to ride and cut under other bikes with ease.

I just bought a 2010 and it leans over and turns way better than my 07. I have only ridden it once though. I do think they are ugly as sin! I seem to have a problem stalling it more than my old one, not sure why, other than I suck at riding.

"I do think they are ugly as sin!" And thats from a new 2010 yamaha bike owner!

You have to give Yamaha credit. The 1980 YZ250 looked good. They just fell 30 years behind the times in the looks department. Give them another 30 years and they will catch up.

I always worry about making it to the corner on two wheels! LOL! And I am an old Yamahahopper from way back. I just got used to working a little harder in the corners.

If your having trouble turning the '10 & '11 YZ450 then get a moped cause there is no hope for you, either that or your setting's are waaaaaaay off.. The bike turn's great.

I Just got a '10 yamaha YZ450 and absolutely love the thing. It does everything well. Doesnt seem like its totally great at one particular thing its just a good all around bike. They fixed the cornering issues, the suspension is plush and isnt too soft, and the power is ridiculous. I rode an '11 KXf450 and thought that was a great bike as well. It seemed to corner better on a tight AX style track. Im coming off of an 07 CRF450 and the yamaha makes that thing feel like an XR650 with a baja tank full of gas.
