i'm just seating her watching the mottocross raise on tv and wood like to now why do they have moto 1 and moto 2 ?

Why not juss have 1 long moto?

like one 60 miniutes moto?

make more senss and save on time wating btwn Motos. juss have 1 moto thta's like 60 mins long.

Well, 2 motos still matter for the overall in amateur racing. In pro racing, there is no "overall" that is of any consequence other than tie breaking purposes.

Kinda sucks if you ask me.

I remember hearing in the very beginning, in Europe, moto-cross was cross country. Kinda like town to town hauling the mail, or a courier getting from 1 camp to another as fast as they could. An hour, maybe 2 or 3 if the place was far away.

Well, fencing went up, property owners were getting pissed so they went to a closed course, set the race for 1.5 hours
and took a break at the halfway point for maintance and maybe a beer.

That's where I heard we come from anyway.

haha, he wasn't alone. When Suzuki was first running they had a watch on Joel Robert in practice. When confronted on why
1 lap was way off he kinda shrugged it off.................till they showed him a film clip they had shot from the bushes,
at the back of the track, with him parked and smokin' a cig.

I went to the MXDN in Switzerland in 1982, totally crazy but I had no idea it was the MXDN, I was there to see family and one of the girls who worked for my dad at the races, Helen, was staying in Switzerland for the summer, she told me there was some motocross race in Roggenburg, do I want to go?? Yeah I'll check it out. It was nuts 175,000+ people there. Anyhow I am walking around and I run into Roger D and Chris Haines, and I was surprised, they told me about the race, I got to hang out with David B, Johnny O, Jim G and Magoo. Roger asked me if I wanted to meet Harry Everts, I was like yeah I had heard of him, any ways to make a long paragraph short, the entire Belgium team was smoking when I walked up, after qualifiers, serious I had never seen anything like that, they were Pros and fast as fuck and smoking, not just Harry, I couldn't believe guys so fast on a dirt cycle were smoking, just never saw that in the US. Sorry for name dropping but that's my story and I am sticking to it.

It used to be a 3 moto format, but the 2nd moto elected to leave the sport voluntarily to avoid public embarrassment associated with the release of an ethics committee investigation. Facts are sketchy, but rumors circulated about numerous energy drink spokes models and a can of 2 stroke oil. For several years following, motocross ran a 1st and 3rd moto format. This proved to be confusing for many, and new fans were always asking what happened to the 2nd moto? Obviously no one wanted to talk about this sensitive subject.. After a long and protracted legal battle (plus an undisclosed settlement said to be in the 6 figures!) The 3rd moto obtained legal rights the 2nd moto name. This cleared things up for the casual fan, but serious followers of the sport were still confused. Everyone knows that 1st is better than 2nd, but, the 2nd moto carried more weight in determining the overall winner. Eventually it was decided that the 2nd moto would be run before the 1st moto. The winner of the 1st moto (which is now run 2nd) would be the overall winner should a tie in points occur. That's how we got to the current 2nd and 1st moto format
