Debating on getting a 2014. Or '15 ktm 250sx I can get a new '14 for 5,500. But should I wait on the '15 as they added the new 4cs fork and other things?

You won't be getting the '15 for that kind of price...

Orange frame, different linkage & forks worth $2000-$2500 or more? If so, I'd wait.

Yeah seems to me like the suspension will be a lot better, as that seems to be the downfall on ktms from what I see.

Are you good enough to need "better" suspension? Not trying to be a dick, just something to think about.

C class. But I see what your saying. I mean the '14 suspension can't be terrible

It isn't that terrible and there are several good tuners in FL to help you out. No need to spend the added money if "suspension" is your criteria. Save the money, ride the bike then get it tuned for you. Use all the extra money you'll save for maintenance/broken items...

The '14 suspension works fine w/ the correct springs and the wise use of a flat-blade screw-driver.

Me, contrary to what others will say...I'd get a '14 300XC (4CS stock!) as they're on sale, too. I'd get a spare set of Moto wheels (19" rear, of-course). If you have to have it, you can get an SX tank for Really Cheap on e-Bay.

I'll give my honest opinion, and it's about worth what you paid.

Call BTO sports, and ask them for one of their KTM's. Team Green's bike is SIIIIIIIICCCCKKKKK and MUCH MUCH better kitted than a brand new bike. It'll come with zero hours on the motor, and will come with TONS of bling.

If I wanted a new KTM, this is what I would do.

edit: I think the price was ball park a new bike, also btw.

Honestly, i havent read any "great" threads on how the new 4cs stuff is so great, sounds like no one has worked the bugs out yet. The CC stuff has been around. Send it to mx tech for a basic revalve, otherwise mx tech can cost a fortune, and if your gna spend that kinda $$ your just better off getting ohlins

Get the 2014. the new fork is not very good. the internal rods are breaking on the top on a regular basis if your doing anything more then just gently trail riding.

I've read enough bad about the new 4CS forks to be worried about how the 15s will be. Seems like the 14 Husabergs and Husqvarna FEs are pretty good. But there's nothing good to be read about the 14 KTM XCs. People are saying they are crashing just from the forks defecting off rock and roots, not very confidence inspiring for an $8k bike. I'll wait to hear what people think of the 15s once they get their hands on them. There's a few threads in the Suspension section on KTMtalk all about the issues with the 4CS.

Don't forget about the frame and geometry changes to the new bikes. They are way better and I have both so not talking out of my ass like most on this thread. But then again with he extra money I'm sure you will be able to make the 14 work awesome.

Buy the 14, spend 1253 dollars on the TTX inserts. Have your shock set up for around 300 and fit a longer 1-1.5mm linkage to help reduce wallow and run deeper sag settings.

Spend the remaining 1000 dollars on consumables for the season and some rider training. Get faster, handle better and be able to afford to ride more.

Sounds like a win win to me.

Rode a friend's 13 Husaberg with the 4c forks. They are great, better than an open chamber fork and more plush than a closed chamber fork out of the box. The magazine test riders are spoiled and pampered. Spend more on advertising and the review will be better. Anyways, I don't know of anyone who races that does not re spring and or revalve their suspension no matter what color of bike they race.

For sure suspension is the biggest thing you can do to a bike...
