what was Atlanta attendance?

Edited Date/Time 1/25/2012 10:37am
I didn't see many empty seats. I think the dome holds about 70k. Need to have an East Coast A2.

nah thats a great question, i didnt hear it (if they announced it) im curious to know. rumor mill....aka the internet, said something about an atlanta 2 being a possibility but dont forget, april has jacksonville, which is what, another 2 hours or so south of ATL? i dont think it will be as big as ATL, yet, but i can tell you us guys from north carolina are toying with the idea of going down.

The whole southeast corridor from the Carolinas down to Florida is a huge MX market. Dont quite understand why Cali gets what 5 rounds? I can only assume the factory influence is out there. And out here we get 3 between Georgia and Florida. They need to take 2 from Cali and give one to the Carloinas and give another to somewhere out in the breadbasket. Spread the wings of the sport a little. Experiment in some different markets.

I heard around 60k. Last year was an even bigger crowd. I think it was around 70K people in 2008.

Somebody, like Weedge or Holly, said: "68,500 or 69,500-something...can't recall exactly, but I recall saying, "that's 70k in my book!"

excellent party, I'd say!

As I recall the 3rd deck last year was no where near full. This was early in practice last year but you get the idea. Dont suppose the AMA would fudge the numbers some do you?

fudge the #s? upper deck was full in 08 and it was essentially full again in 09. You're recollection sucks.

68,358.5.

We had one live birth.

That place was over flowing.

Industrial seating was packed like a fresh can of whoop-ass.

Think I seen SORBY take out somebody in a vicious bout of musical chairs.

Good times.

Yeah, those companies would be much faster if they were training in the heat and humidity.

Attendance was nearly 70K on the AMA results sheet that I saw. (It's sitting at home on my desk there, and don't have it handy.)

are YOU serious? with all that fire power in cali...shouldnt ALL of the cali rounds be sold out for every event?

i mean really, cali is huge for mx, but so is the south east. maybe not as big, but its growing very fast. while cali is throwing out huge fines for just riding on your own property, racers from NC to FL are having no trouble buying land and building their own training facilities, without getting crap from local gov't (yet...im sure it will all change with time)

honestly, theres more then enough races in cali, another on the east coast, or southeast would be great.

same as LA and san diego with the cali traffic factored in Wink

seriously north county /socal in general are on another planet in bikes sold,
number of lage dealerships, etc etc.

its a few Socal counties, and the rest of the US.

if you want to look at market share and where bikes and equipment are sold
,its not surprising the number of races in that area.

i'm not against more midwest , soyuth east or or east coast rounds..!!! Wink

just sayin however popular you may think MX is in other places,,
folks dont buy MX bikes like they do in those few Socal counties,,anywhere else in the world.

as far as SX race fans,, and wether tjhey own a bike ,, thats another story..

monster truck events do well in the midwest and south..
even though not may people own them
*shrugs*

Smile

yea well thats my point. wouldnt the sport benefit more if it tried to reach out to other areas?
i know there is some tradition involved but to have 3 rounds at the same track is ridiculous.
this sport has always had issues with marketing its product if you ask me and to race basically the same venues over and over dont help the cause.
