I avoid Marks Vintage Swapmeet, eBay and all other forms of vintage MX classifieds like the plague. It always ends up putting me in the poor house time and time again. It gets to the point that you no longer own all the stuff you have collected, it owns you. But along comes some guy in the Bazaar / For sale section, that I also try to avoid here but sometimes you just fall off the wagon, that posts up something that I have been trying to buy from a local dealer for the past 30 years. Sucked me in like a moth to a flame. $800.00 and $85.00 Freight later, I had this 1970’s beauty in my possession.
I immediately went to work stripping and priming it.
Had my favorite local upholstery guy stitch me up some new foam and leather in a little more modern look over the old gloss black vinyl.
Call it a New Years resolution but as the end of the year approached I decided I needed to actually finish something so I spent a weekend blocking it out and repairing a few stress cracks in the fiberglass and got it primed up again and ready to paint.
With the yellow base applied and a coat of clear it was scuffed down for stripes. White first, then black and a load of urethane clear. Almost done!
