the ama series needs a sand track!

Edited Date/Time 10/2/2014 1:49pm
its the biggest/most important series in the world according to you guys- why the hell is there no sand track in the ama championship?!!

It would make the series better- i miss southwick. Would be GREAT to see a round in florida at a proper sand track, and to see more variation in the tracks in general.

Why not that Canadian sandtrack everybody is talking about? Since you guys do SX in Canada, why not?

I don't see a start gate and the lines look to be going around the jumps, is that just maintenance roads?

Not only does it need a sand track but they have to stop prepping each track exactly the same....there needs to be some variety.

Southwick will more than likely be operational again by the end of this year... AND they are returning it to the old direction. I wouldn't count that out as an option...

What's the deal with this track? I heard about it's opening from a Vurb video but I don't hear anything else about it and when I do it's usually bad.

Care to elaborate on exactly what that means? "Prepping each track the same".

should they have the Amish out there tilling it with horses for a couple rounds? should they water it with seltzer water at one race?

You till it, and you water it, then you race on it. Not sure where that leaves room for variety.

Some of you dudes are so disconnected and permanently set in "complain" mode.

They prep every track by bringing in sand and then ripping it deep to mix it in to create the loam, over water so the same ruts form blah blah blah....
And for your info I'm definitely not disconnected or complaining....just repeating what many of the riders have said about the tracks. But of course you would know being from Canada and all because you can see it on your TV...

Here is a world map according to Jeff Emig. All the sick sandtracks and videos of duneriding must be from another country then. And Tomac seemed to forget that the euros were sandspecialists because he passed them like they were standing still.

open admitting to just regurgitating what other people said.

at least you're honest.

It's done the way it is done to keep dust down for the TV package and allow for the track to develop the best it can for racing. If you change things up, you get dust, or you get a track with only one fast line. in either one of those cases, you've got the same group of people bitching about it on the internet, man. think about it. what can you do differently to dirt?

p.s. im a local at a mainstay of the AMA outdoor series.

I agree with this. One race in Canada and call the series a world championship.

Thank you.
The rest of you must not have attended Redbud or Millville or Freestone.
Doesn't decomposed granite, like at GH, count?

I probably left out some and these are just National tracks.

I think this map is wrong,at least according to Italian tracks.
In Italy we only have one good sand track in Mantova and some few less important.
When you go racing in our tracks you'll probably find hard pack Wink
TC222 is so strong in sand because he has always been practicing in Belgium where he mostly lives.

Epic place, could very well hold a national with a few more additions to meet mx sports requirements (for teams and fans and such) but 90% of it is done. Parking for days as well

The track in Latvia is not that different from Millville regarding the type of dirt

Have a round here at gopher dunes.

Its one of the most difficult tracks to go fast on after practice.

Only issue is lap times for pros is 1:55 and below

Looks bitchin.

I don't see a way to add more races.

But,if 2 tracks were added then a rotation thru the lineup where a track would lose a race ever 6 yrs or whatever it needs to be so there is the same amount of races but 2 different tracks drop out each year till rotation complete the repeat.

Add a 13th national that is the deepest sand in North America! That will mean there is only 3 weeks till mxdn. The riders can take a week, go over a week early be more ready.

Why doesn't MX Sports just head on out to Glamis...and carve out a motocross track in the sand dunes with ribbon...

It doesn't get any more sandy than that...

In fact, they could run 6 of the 12 rounds there...that ought to level the playing field with the GP's. Am I right, or am I right?
