I had t1 through t6 fused 2 rods and 9 screws. dr just says do what you feel you can. it could take 6 months to a yr to heal. he is very vague with his answers lol. anyone else close to this section of surgery?
honestly my neck and arm are the bad part. back feels fine.

I had T4-11 fused from a bad fracture. It’s a good 9-12 month recovery. I still do everything I did before with just some slight discomfort. I did it 15 years ago and I am 40 still snowboarding 50 days a year and riding my dirt bike all summer.

that's promising. I just haven't heard if the risk is greater when its healed. or is it as strong or stronger.

Had my T6, 7 & 8 fused 10 years ago. Healed close to 100% within 6-8 months for me. As far as riding, training and extra curricular activities go, it hasn't hindered me at all. Just have to deal with pain when it comes to things like sitting with no back rest or doing work like shingling a roof. I've often wondered if having the rods removed would help with the pain side of things.

Not the same area, but had my C6 - C7 done 11 years ago and to this day still have occasional pain in my neck, shoulders, and arms. Follow the recovery instructions and stay in shape and you will be okay. I dialed my motorcycle activities waaaaay back, came too close to paralysis (the top of my C6 snapped off and lodged into my spinal cord).

I had T1-T9 fused with rods back in 1986. I was back framing houses in about a year and still riding and racing at 50. I have never had any problems with my back. I have found more issues in mobility. Standing up on the bike, and looking far ahead, seems to give my neck a bit of an issue though. In hindsight, having them removed may have made that better. We will never know....

T2-T7 screwed and glued. I broke T3 in half and put a vertical fracture through T4. Ten 3-inch screws, two rods, and two metal straps was the outcome. Crashed head first into whoops at an Arenacross while leading my main. Went from hero to zero in a flash. I have some general discomfort with an occasional sharp pain if I lift something heavy with bad posture. Biggest issue is mobility in my neck.....mostly just muscles being a little tight.

My injury was 12-years ago and I have raced cross country races and amateur days at Washougal during national weekend since my crash. I was 40 when I crashed and now I'm over 50. I had a spectacular wipeout 6 years ago while leading a cross country race and tore my ACL. I am switching over to SxS's now....a Polaris RZR Turbo. You know what they say, with age comes a cage.

I live life fully without any restrictions, but I am mindful about putting myself in a position that could put me on my head.

I had t12 through L2 fused (also fractured L3,L4,L5) 2 rods/6screws, I got back on the bike after about 6 months and I don’t really feel any pain when I ride, but when I sit for too long is when I feel pain. I found that the more excercise I do, the better I feel. people think it’s crazy that I’m already back riding but I’m only 20 so I would say I made a quick recovery.
