When I was that small I got a CR 125 and I had trouble riding it my first year...when I got stronger I was fine, but ask yourself how strong is your kid. If he's not that strong you might not want to get him a 125 just yet.

The fact that someone with the user name "CocaineCrazy" posted that non-capitalized, run-on sentence makes so much sense.

Don't buy him anything-he's old enough to buy his own bike.

Strong as in ability to ride?
Strong as in ability to Lift/manhandle
i would say my son is pretty fit cardio wise
his strenght may not be up to par but we can change that
the kid has a super slim build though

strong as in able to lift/hadle the machine.

I was probably about 5'6" or 5'7" 125 lbs and I could bench 140 and I lifted weights pretty consistantly, but a 125 or 250f is kinda heavy when you weigh 125 lbs.

I hear Honda is giving out lots of money with that bike, you should get two. Or was it just Honda is giving out lots of money to the AMA to make it "legal". Does money make things legal??Shocked

The 150r is a terrific bike, but at 5'7", your son is too big for even the big wheel version.

Cooper Webb looked fine on his 150 at the end of this year, although he was a big kid for it
also he will only be riding it for 3 month's then stepping up to a yz250

The 125 will teach those skills like no other bike can. But if you're considering a 150F, why not just get him a 250F. It's still a 250 fourstroke, like an XR250. Should be easy enough for him to ride.

Look at this also. The 125 may have a taller seat height, but the CRF150rb is probably heavier. I use one as a playbike and my 10 year old son has ridden it. The first thing he said was it felt really heavy compared to his KX85.

Have had one and a kid that size. It was small for him when he got that big.

Love the engine on the 150, but it would be cool to have it in a full size frame.

If he's going to be riding a 25o in three months you'd be wasting your time on a smaller framed bike if he's that size. Grab a cheap used 125 for the interim and get him used to the size. Shoot, RC was shorter than 5'7", why put your superdooperfastestC kid on a mini if you're going to a 250 in three months.

Good luck to your son.

I put my son on Cr 125's at 13, 5'6 140 he rode them 2 years. He is now 16 and on Cr 250's

150 4 stroke. Save your money and ride a 125. Then decide from there.

I would think that he is to big for a 150. My son had one and it was a good bike but I think a YZ125 would be a better bike for him. My son also had a YZ125 and I think that is the best bike money can buy.
Just remember that no mater what bike he gets dont push him. Let him take his time to get comfortable on the bike and he will have alot of fun.

For what it's worth,my son is 5,7@130 and he is on 450s.
