God bless man. We have two little ones, and it hurts to see you guys going through it. However, accepting, and being grateful he is alive is the main thing! He will rock the prosthetic like a pro, since he is so young. Prayers to you all

Thankful things are turning around for Thomas and you guys. I've been around many above the knee amputees and while unfortunate, it's not the end of the world, especially with today's prosthetic advances. Praying things continue to go your way l now, you've been through enough lately. There will be some tough adjustments ahead but you can weather those storms as well. May God bless you and comfort you through those.

Positive thoughts and prayers!!!!

Oh my God!!! I got a 5 year old girl going on 20 and I don't think I would handle this as nearly as well as you have. My heart goes out to you, your wife and boys. Especially little Thomas. It's unreal with all the medical advancements there have been that stuff like this happens. The major positive in this is you still got your boy and that little fighter will come out of this and carry on. Kids tend to adapt pretty well and don't want to be held back by anything. When life hands you lemons you make lemonade. My hat is off to you guys. This is a tuff go and you all stayed strong.
Thomas, if you can survive this you can survive anything! Stay strong buddy and I wish you nothing but the best!

I don't have anything insightful to add here. Just wanted to say my family and I are praying for you guys. Just squeezed my little girl a little tighter. I'm anxiously awaiting hearing about him recovering.

Hey Travis, one of my good buddies was involved in a car wreck and lost a leg below the knee... and then a motorcycle wreck and lost the stump above the knee, has a stump and a synthetic leg... AND. He's fine. More than fine... Still rides, works, goes to the gym etc... Your boy will be more than fine, he's gonna adapt as all kids do and kick ass.

Thinking of you guys.

What they can do with prosthetics now is nothing short of incredible, I'm sure he will adapt quickly especially since he is so young. Shoot, I'm sure it would be possible to come up with a right side shift bike for when he recovers.Cool Keep positive man, still keeping you guys in my thoughts and hoping for more good news.

Travis.....glad to hear the surgery went well !! Please keep us updated. That kid of yours is a fighter.....and a tough one at that!

A lot of us up here in the NW lost a fellow racer and friend by the name of Tiger Lacey not to long ago to the exact same thing. Very , very wicked disease! Just goes to show how tough your boy is. Stay strong brother!

I am happy to read that everything has gone well with surgery... I will keep the positive thoughts going your way!

As I hold my 2 year old son I have tears in my eyes for you and your family... I cant imagine what you are going through. I have multiple deployments to Iraq and AFG and have witnessed my share of "stuff" I don't want to ever think about but never seem to go away and stories like this always tear at my heart due to the innocence of your boy!

I have a strong feeling that he will make it through this and be stronger for it... the amazing human spirit he possesses will take over and bring smiles to everyone before you know it!

sorry to get all deep on you... but after a few beers it sort of comes out with out my knowing it!

X1000 on how well you are handling all of this. You guys obviously have a very positive outlook and only good things can come from that. Keep your chin as high as it is (as tired as you have to be) and love that little guy, he needs you. Whatever you are doing is working, I am praying for Thomas to be done with this and on the up-swing. He is young enough that the adjustments to a life changing event like this will be easier for him to learn and it will only be normal to him as he ages.

Thanks for keeping your friends here on Vital posted on how he is doing. You have a lot of friends here praying for your boy and your family.

Wow this story just tore me up.

Travis, you've got a strong family and son. Prayers that Thomas comes through the rest of this journey fine. With two boys myself, I cannot imagine having to go through what you have. Keep hangin' in there. Thoughts and prayers again to you all.
