Tommy Weeck won from what I heard, and Austin Ulrich got second!! Not positive on the runner up spot, but I know Weeck won for sure. I guess Izzi was there, but didn't ride.

I ran into a few Vital people lining the fences, and nope, I hadn't been to this one before.

Working on some pics now.

There are a batch of photos from the race up in the photo section, but they're uncaptioned at the moment. I'll fix that in the morning.

Weeck's was railing the big sweeper before the table. 1 inch higher and he would have gone over the berm and wadded.

He did it lap after lap and never made a mistake. He was fast last night and had the track dialed.

sweet pictures. Pretty cool of Genova to lend that dude his personal bike and to show up and throw down some cash too. I'll have to take a look at his products and see if there is anything I could use.

Super pumped for saturday!

ohh yeah, picture 15, Nate Whitlow,

Hey Steve ( GuyCool it was good meeting you again last night. That was some awesome racing for sure. Tommy Weeck was on a different level last night , But Ullrich and Lamay kept him honest for a while. Kind of a shame Tommy doesn't have more support this year , the kid has talent to spare! Hope he does good at Washougal! Great write up on the race as well >> http://www.vitalmx.com/photos/features/Thursday-Night-MX-at-PIR,36317/0…

Hope to run into you again up at the Shoug!

Yeah Damn it.....I couldn't track Rory down last night.....couldn't find where he was parked. Known Rory a long time and he's a good dude! That start killed him , but he rode really good!

Sondy....PIR has a huge lighting system. It's like an outdoor SX track. Wish you could of made it up.....maybe next year? Come up a few days early for the national and check it out. It's a great time and some really good racing.

Thanks for the invite Jeffro =) I been to both 100's of times, PIR was CMC at one point and well Washougal too, back in the day I use to drive up there every year for the National or The Pac-west Nationals too. Do you know Tony Stumpf? he's a friend of mine who lives up there, from down here, he bugs me to come up every year, when I worked for the AMA I'd go, but I kind of like my weekends off =)

Good shots,Gibby.

WOW!
I cannot believe how much that place has changed over the years, looks groomed to perfection.

Back in the late 70's til about the early 1990's that place pretty much had swamps all around it and in the infield.
No grass what-so-ever,unless you wanna call high weeds & swamp-grass & sticker bushes & stinging nettles, grass.
The track was either super dry or muddy. One little fence along the start and by the tower, the rest was some yellow mesh banner. When they grated it ,it had dirt clumps & boulders in it...that were both rock hard.

This is along the back side, after you come down the hill circa 1980.

PIR Mud.

Then in about 1989 ...they put this wall in behind the start.

Also,if any journalists up that way this weekend want to do a "where are they now or NW legends interview" Eric Hall would be a good one to hit up,if you could get him to talk lol.(I think he is the care taker now at Washougal)The guy was a bad ass and would hole shot nationals on bone stock bikes back in the 1980's. Think he also won Ponca and got great results at LL's every year. Seen him once at press day at PIR before the 1980 or 1981 Washougal national,go out on his 80 and blow by guys like Burrget and some other national ranked pros that were on 500's.Hall had a replica of the track in his back yard and was lightning fast on it.At about the age of 12 he was riding 125's and starting on a milk crate to hold him up,he could hang with the 125 expert class guys. I think in 89 he retired after setting the fastest qualifying time at the Seattle Mickey T. Ultracross on a 125 against guys on 250's.At the start of the main he went down hard and blew his knee out.

Awesome ride for Austin. Keeping the motoconcepts guys behind him. The kid just turned 18 and is getting faster every race. Tommy Weeck will definitely kill it this weekend. Awesome event, can't wait for next year!

Also saw Wiemer is undercover....

One interesting part of the night was watching a big screeching bird of prey circle over the infield, carrying something it had just caught, and then landing in a nest atop one of those light poles.

Oh yeah....you caught that too huh Steve? I think there is a pair of eagles living up there. they did a couple low fly-by's when I was on the far side of the track. They must of just moved there this year , cause last year they weren't there. Glad you made it out Steve. Hopefully I'll run into you again up at Washougal this weekend. If the timing is right , and if you are around maybe we can hook up with some other vital guys and slam a couple cold ones.

I'm usually so busy on race days, the only cold ones I'm slamming are water, Muscle Milk, or Cytomax. Smile
