Saw Tommy Hahn there (and the rumor about him leaving MotoConcepts Yamaha is wrong). Also saw Jake Weimer in undercover mode.
Good night of racing.

He did it lap after lap and never made a mistake. He was fast last night and had the track dialed.
Super pumped for saturday!
ohh yeah, picture 15, Nate Whitlow,
He'll also be at X Games Endurocross and just got done racing in the Mtn. Bike National Championships in Sun Valley.

WOW!
I cannot believe how much that place has changed over the years, looks groomed to perfection.
Back in the late 70's til about the early 1990's that place pretty much had swamps all around it and in the infield.
No grass what-so-ever,unless you wanna call high weeds & swamp-grass & sticker bushes & stinging nettles, grass.
The track was either super dry or muddy. One little fence along the start and by the tower, the rest was some yellow mesh banner. When they grated it ,it had dirt clumps & boulders in it...that were both rock hard.
This is along the back side, after you come down the hill circa 1980.
PIR Mud.
Then in about 1989 ...they put this wall in behind the start.
Also,if any journalists up that way this weekend want to do a "where are they now or NW legends interview" Eric Hall would be a good one to hit up,if you could get him to talk lol.(I think he is the care taker now at Washougal)The guy was a bad ass and would hole shot nationals on bone stock bikes back in the 1980's. Think he also won Ponca and got great results at LL's every year. Seen him once at press day at PIR before the 1980 or 1981 Washougal national,go out on his 80 and blow by guys like Burrget and some other national ranked pros that were on 500's.Hall had a replica of the track in his back yard and was lightning fast on it.At about the age of 12 he was riding 125's and starting on a milk crate to hold him up,he could hang with the 125 expert class guys. I think in 89 he retired after setting the fastest qualifying time at the Seattle Mickey T. Ultracross on a 125 against guys on 250's.At the start of the main he went down hard and blew his knee out.
Also saw Wiemer is undercover....
