I use a Champion 3400 inverter generator. Runs like a champ on propane or gas.

get the 500w if yer gonna go battery bank. goal zero probably the industry leader right now from what i can tell.

i have a honda 2000 inverter i snagged off craigslist last year for $600...best thing i've ever bought i think. runs forever on a tank of gas...powers 99% of my needs. quiet.

I have used a WEN 4k inverter genny for 2 seasons now and has done everything i have asked of it. pretty quiet and watching the obese amazon man try to carry a genny made it worth all the money i paid (not that much considering others in the same market)

Generac 2000 from Lowes. Bought it six years ago as the display model for $499, regular price was $599. It's a little louder than the same Honda and Yamaha gennies, but has done everything I need, fans, lights, etc. at the track. It's pretty good on gas too.

Most here are talking about actual gas generators, which isn't what the OP is talking about. He is talking about the little portable battery/inverter combo devices that call themselves "solar generators."

I've had a Goal Zero Yeti for about 6 years. No issues.

If you have a lot of power tools from a particular brand, you might look at that brand’s power supply options. You might even consider buying whatever it is that you want to power as a battery powered tool rather than buying a solar generator. I’ve got an impact driver, power ratchet, air compressor, lights, a fan, and even a vaccuum that use the same battery packs, plus I can plug an adapter into it that will charge a laptop and other smaller electronics.

If you’re dead set on the solar generator, goal zero seems to be the best option.

Got a Milwaukee M18 collection going on here and have like 15 batteries. Have been wondering why they don't come out with an M18 power station type of thing. Do they have something like that I haven't seen yet? I have seen the little one you can charge a cell phone with.

Anything with a Honda engine.
Agree with this ^ if you are buying for long term use and want a dependable, quite, fuel friendly generator. I have had numerous brands over the last 40 years and the Honda's inverter type are the best. You will pay more but they last, if you decide to sell you will get more for resale. Too many low cost brand's won't last and are "throw" away generators. Make sure you get a large enough unit so it isn't' running WOT to keep up.

Depends on how many watts you think you'll need, but I had a Champion 3100 watt for a couple years and it worked well, but it was more then I needed so I switched to the Honda 2200 generator last year:
https://www.amazon.com/Honda-EU2200iTAG-2200-Watt-Generator-CO-Minder/d…

They are a little pricier than some of the alternatives, but I've been really happy with the switch.

While we're discussing this...

Those of us with pick-ups and vans that have mutiple batteries or room to add a battery...

We can get inverters to power many of the things we need on race day.
