I heard it mentioned earlier in the week when someone posted a pic of him practicing. also boggled my mind on how the heck he holds on??? Would like to see more about it.

I posted a cool vid earlier in the week:

Generation Next: Jessy Nelson
Just a few days before Hangtown, the Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda team called on amateur rider Jessy Nelson to make his pro debut a bit earlier than expected. And so, aboard the #136, Jessy showed up at his hometown track ready to race.

Sure seems like a nice polite kid Cool Really impressed with is ride yesterday!

He got it cought in his sprocket when he was on minis, now he has a prosthetic thet he wears to help him grip with his 4 fingers.

I give that badass MF' er one thumb up for his rides the last two weeks!

Check out how he picks up the flyer after he signs it, does not look like he uses his thumb to pick it up?

Call me curious, but i really want to see a pic of his hand lol

G'mornin Slippy! so how much of it is missing? is it just the tip that he slips a prosthetic nub over what is left of his thumb? or is like the whole thing gone?

Its almost entirely gone. There's a nub at the base, but I don't even think that first joint closest to the hand is there at all anymore.

That kid has been through alot. His thumb happened when the 150s came out. Heard it was most of his thumb . His dad fell off the roof and broke his back about the same time. Good for jessy for over coming all this. I read this somewhere

Morning O/C, I was working with a kid that raced against him when it happened a few years back so I remember the story well. I got to work with them ( The Nelson's) a little at MDK and Ridge and I spent most of the day in the Red Bull rig at Hangtown with them, but I never saw or asked how much was gone.

His elbows down ride style looks a little odd to me. I was wondering if this is due to his digit handicap.

Stoked to see the kid do this great. He's representing SLO County well.

Do you think he'd get offended by the nickname Werewolf? It's better than Barf from Spaceballs (the movie).

See where I'm goin with this? Lol

He definitely turned some heads with that start and hanging on for as long as he did.
Was fun watching him in that first moto lead it.
Hope we see him on the podium before the season is over.
The kid seems like he definitely wants to be up there and there is no doubt he is capable & has the skills/speed to run with those guys.

He has a part in moto the movie where you get a pretty clear shot of his hand, and they show him putting on a glove of some sort with a thumb on it while gearing up. It's 10 seconds into the trailer for the movie.

I had a chance to go to a moto clinic he was putting on at a local track and I couldn't bring myself to spend the money on it, I'm sure for some stupid reason. Regret not going ever since, would have been a very cool experience. RIP Nathan.

I have been up close and seen it ....there is almost nothing there, It seems like he kind of keeps it out of view i don't think he really likes showing it off he just wants to be a bad ass dirt biker....not a bad ass dirt biker without a thumb. That kid is a hero i have sat on my bike many a time and tried to figure out how he does it? Guess it shows what the body will do to compensate
when it needs too.....Awesome!

I went to high school in a town less than an hour away from where he "hails from" (Emig's line about Roczen). Therefore, by default, me and him are like BFFs and any success he has is due (somehow) to me and I, thereby, am entitled to take credit for it.

"We" are gonna keep "our" heads down and hope for a podium in Colorado.

Really all you post about is Jessy's thumb. Holy cow get a clue. Jessy is a great young rider with a talent most do not have or will ever have. Follw his progress and nothing to see here about his hand.

It's not an issue with Jesse, why is it with you?

I'm usually fairly good at translating "drunk", "stupid", and "gibberish", but I must say I'm stumped here...Anyone?

Vital translation in progress
"dude, your a helmet, go away. i'm just curious, you could 'write' that comment in 99% of the threads on vital, you dick!"

and it still makes no sense. Smile

Rode a Team-Fun-Pitbike race w/him a couple years back at Mammoth.

He's a Class Act & the Nelsons are a very cool family with their heads in the right place.

He's going to do real well at TLD.

I look forward to it.
