I swear nobody could tell a 2013 KTM from a 2016, or whatever, but i can tell you pretty much any steel framed bike from 75 to 95. after 2000 they all look the bloody same.

I agree. Basic styling in bikes has not changed fundamentally since the early 90s. That's a 30 year+ period we will be hitting industry wide this model year.

Get over it man. Old bikes and fat chic's are still more fun to ride than you are.

I'm prob gonna get cussed for this, but........ I always thought the 87 CR 500 was the best looking for all the Honda big bore years. Always wondered as a kid how the hell they started those damn things in the event of a crash, since it looked like it was a bitch to do in a perfect setting. Dad told me unless it's a slight tip over, after crashing something that powerful, the last thing you'd worry about was getting it started...... you're more concerned about walking again.

Well, here, is without a doubt the best looking Enduro, ever, in one mans eyes.

Not that it really matters.
I mean, I doubt you could find one nowadays.

The 1976 Montesa Enduro, not to be confused with the King Scorpion, is a true wolf in sheeps clothing.

They made around 1,000 of them. Most of which stayed in Spain.
250 Cappras, their motocross models, with little more than a lighting circuit, slightly wider tank, and taller gearing,
is all they are. Motocrossers with lights.

Rare as hens teeth, like most Montesa bikes of the fiberglass tank era, this is just a beautiful machine.

I admired those bikes as a kid. Still do. I had a 92 CR 500. I went from loving it in the California desert to absolutely hating it in the Washington mud. It wasn't bad starting it with dry boots. The problem I had was starting it with slippery mud on my boots. After I sold it I regretted it immediately. I do agree with you. To me that year was the most beautiful bike and made the biggest impression on me as well. I'll take some heat for that. Most people who talk negatively about those bikes probably never had an opportunity to ride one.

I've never ridden one myself. When that was new, I was just 14 on 80's, but I did sit on one. In 87 I was on KX's, and that 500 tank felt 2 feet wide between my legs, being around 100 lbs at the time probably had a lot to do with it. I probably looked like a piss ant sitting on an elephants back on that thing.......

i love old cars and old street bikes. i just dont like any off road bikes before 89/90. the shape of these late 80's bikes and the characteristics like fork length etc still apllies in todays bikes. but before it was like they put random parts together... maybe it has to do with the fact that i start riding at 90's and rode nothing else than off road bikes since then but i cant see the classic beauty i see on a bmw 3.0 csl or an old mv agusta in older off roaders. even the mid 80's bikes are pretty awful to look at. the plastics just dont match.
... also, fuck innovation..

My opinion: From about 1974 to 1982, Japanese MXers were beautiful. Particularly, the ‘79-80 CR125/Mugen 125’s. I really think the old Suzuki TM’s and steel tank RM’s through ‘77 were sexy. 80-81 zooks were really good looking as well.

Everything got kind of ugly from about ‘83 to ‘96.

Yamaha hasn’t produced a decent looking four-stroke since... ever. Absolutely hideous until the most recent gen, which is tolerable. In fact most four-stroke styling has been like lumpy fat-assed chicks in leggings until the last few years. Husqvarna has it figured out. Ktm’s look good. Honda has something goofy going on with their front fender, but look good otherwise, Kawi is pretty good looking. Suzuki and Yamaha are sort of tolerable.

We called them Boattails. Harley would kinda copy that rear fender style a year or 2 later.

Funny thing is, it's almost impossible to pinpoint a Bultaco by year, because Bultaco didn't.
Take that MK4 above.
It sold good, so they made them for about 4 years, With nothing in the serial number to denote what year it was.
The factory may have had something, but the factory is no more.

Closest I ever found to what was what with Bultaco is this chart.

Agreed, the early Zooks looked good.

Had a friend that swore by and rode Pentons, until the 125 Elisnore came out.....

You guys are dropping the ball here- I legit this think this one of the best looking bikes of all time. Sea foam green and dark red...if you’re keen to color you know these two are exact opposites on the color wheel. Red grips plus the check mark...*drools*

I’d pay top dollar to get to ride this bike for a day in the woods.

The only bike I found particularly distasteful was the ‘79 model N Suzuki’s. I did not like the fenders that year, but they sorted that out the following year.
