Very cool, I ride a KTM 200 off road and love to find terrain like that.

I would rather ride my 125 through that than try to wrestle a 450 through all of that tight stuff.

+1 on that. I'd rather be on a 125 than my 450X in that type of terrain. Tires you out far less over the course of a ride, and I didn't see any spots there where you needed 450 type horsepower.

I race a 91 RM250 in harescrambles...it handles like a semi. Ran a 125 one race...like riding a bicycle. Handles so lightly you think about changing direction and it's done before the thought completes Smile

My most fond racing memory was on a 125 through trails like that. Except it was muddy.

I always preffered a 125 in the woods up until I was in my 40's. It helped to be under 140 pounds. Now days it takes to much effort to make a 125 singSmile

One mistake in the vid - they forgot to close the gate! When a gate is closed in front of you and you open it you close it behind you. A cardinal rule of offroad riding

Awesome looking bike for sure....reminds me of the 1997 John Penton Anniversary 200 KTM. I happen to have one that has never been started. It's been difficult not ride it...... but it still 100% Brand NewSmile

the '13 Husabergs are quite different from the KTM's (aside from the engines)

Stiffer springs is a must for Enduro type riding. You can usually put 250 springs from the same year bike. You do loose a little feel but it saves some cash and wrenching.

Small bore riding and big bore riding is very different. I think small bore is way more fun, but also way more work. Shifting and clutching constant. I am faster on my 300 then the 200 for this reason. But nothing beats blasting around on the 200, the instantaneous power is just awesome.

I've been riding my sons 125 for the last 3 years. Once you get back to the hyper aggressive clutch and gear changes its so much fun and its bad as hell passing buddies using all of the terrain available. They're a down hill missle that you can bring down to speed quick along with skimming roots and easier to float in and out of ruts...however rocks most always suck.
I do hit the wall far sooner than I do on that 450 couch.

Cut my teeth off-road on KX125s & KDX200-220s...

The smaller bore bikes are the easiest to rail off-road.

Currently we're developing a CRF250X/R for Baja. So far it seems to be like the 125/200 bikes; but, with a A LOT MORE Torque & waaaaaaaaaay better mileage (that's kinda important in Baja).

It was a 3 man team race. At 17min mark there is a hill that gave many people trouble, but the 125 didnt even notice it Smile

Actually i have a worn out Dunlop summertire that has been studded afterwards in the back and a very worn front tire aswell. Because the race is in early winter the ground isnt frozen very deep and there are lots of rocks and roots so I didnt want to ruin my good winter tires.

Very cool, you Fins are hard core! lol We are lucky to get 10 riders out once winter sets in. Pussies.

Btw, what kind of camera were you using? It was kind of hard to watch because it was such an unstable image.

Basically the no link KTM chassis from a few years ago with different bodywork, and updated suspension. Closed cartridge forks?

I'm sorry about the camera work, it bums me out too. The camera is a gopro hd, but it is setup too high, because our pace and the terrain was so slow I didnt have to put my head down as much as I usually do. And the unstable thing, thats just "too stiff for offroad" motocross suspension in -12`C bouncing of the rocks!! :D The bike was just all over the place..

I was thinking about this thread last Saturday while I was out riding my 144 in the nasty. It absolutely rules everywhere except the big hillclimbs, but I'm about to change all that with a 165 cylinder mated to a ktm 200 pipe. Mid size power in a 125 chassis!!!

Anyway, while it may struggle with big hills it more than makes up for it with handling and braking ability. My buddies on 450's look like they struggle so bad on the downhills and corners. It just doesn't look enjoyable to me.

And the small bore it will climb some big ass hills with proper throttle use! Until it falls off the pipe Silly

I was riding a 93 kdx 200 for offroad until recently..it works really well but i had a hard time going between my moto bike and that with the dated ergos..

big difference inbetween that torqey 200 motor and a 125 though!

the stop and go stuff is hard on the 125..if u can keep it on the pipe its all good...

Okay, if we're going to expand beyond 125's to the sub 250 class,

The 200 may be as perfect an all-around bike as there is, although it'd be nice if they still offered the close-ratio version. But it's pretty hard to complain about KTM in terms of offering options.

The Berg actually has a new 4 cartridge fork from WP. The 125 however is not available in the US, but the KTM 150 XC is and it is the best of the small bore 2 strokes from KTM.

The current EXC range are also linkless. It's better for tree roots and rocks apparently. Also, alot easier to maintain.
