I have a KTM 450 sxf-USA and after about 5 minutes of idling, steam and coolant starts spewing out of the overflow tube. I replaced my radiator cap already and it still does it. Any ideas of why this keeps happening?

Is it coming from the overflow tube or the breather tube? This happened to my dad’s crf450rx after he replaced the stock coolant hoses with some aftermarket ones. He had filled the coolant to the top of the radiator, omce the bike was on and the coolant expanded, coolant started pouring out of the breather hose. The bike basically self regulated how much coolant it needed, we did probably 40 miles and it ran perfectly.

They're not built to idle in place, that's your problem. If you don't use / loose coolant while you're riding, you're 100% fine.

Every modern race 4 stroke with boil coolant and spew if you let it sit and idle........ And your header will glow orange too

In regards to my 2012 KTM 250, it states in the owners manual to not let it sit at idle so that it doesn't over heat/boil over.

Quit looking at your bike and go ride.

How's the bike supposed to get an airflow to cool down the coolant if it's just standing there?
That's why Enduro bikes have a fan that's activated at a certain temperature

Your sprocket bolts are too tight. They're squeezing the coolant out.

Make your the choke isn't on. The KTM is in for on and out for off. Opposite of traditional carbs.
