Am i the only one that has to deal with all of his friends saying that mx isn't a sport. because IMO mx is one of if not the most physically demanding sports on the planet but whenever im in a conversation with my friends about sports, theyre always saying that hockey, football, even soccer are more physical than mx and im starting to get sick of having to argue when all of my friends say that all you do is sit down and twist a throttle. just wondering if you guys have the same problem or if my friends are just retarded?

Small problem. Who gives a shit if its hard, we ride and race because it's fun.You can argue it but until they throw a leg over the bike and put out a thirty two they won't shut their flaps.

I'd ride 32 opposed to climbing a mountain on my road bike. I find cycling a LOT more physical demanding.

Try living in Canada it's annoying but I could care less, gnarliest sport in the world

MX isn't physically demanding at all. All you do is sit behind a keyboard and cyber-argue about js7 all day.

I just avoid talking moto with anyone that is non-moto. If someone is genuinely interested, I'll talk for days. Otherwise, I just don't really bring it up.

I take the exact same approach. Nothing more annoying then someone who know's nothing moto related asking how fast your bike can go, or if you can do any tricks.

honestly theres one problem with that. someone who hasnt ridden that much couldnt push themselves to get tired without wading up. these people just think" all i have to do is ride for 30 minutes" which all of us could do if we go at 50% of what we can ride. thats how they think. we had someone at out track say the same thing one time and all they did was idle around the track

I gave up on that argument many years ago lol

Its funny back when I raced and considered myself fit I would have no trouble busting my ass in a MTB race for an hr or more or running 10 - 12km at a good pace but on the MX bike Id be pretty much done after 20 min max. Super rough sand tracks probably less. Id be rolling around the track at the end. What the Pros do for 35min races is insane. No sport comes close to MX in my opinion. It beat me lol

Who gives a flying fuck what they think? I hear it all the time. Does it bother me? No, but it used to. That was until I realized that if you waste your time worrying about what other people think you will get nowhere. If you want to rebound to their inaccurate opinion just say "come show me how it's done".

Until they ride, they should shut their mouths. It's a sport just like any other. It requires different skills.

Just tell them that Lance Armstrong and Michael Jordan disagree and believe it is the most demanding then tell them to research it. They may or may not find something but it will shut them up for a while.

MX is racing, if your talking non racers don't sweat it they'll never understand. I have a mountin bike and have never raced it but im smart enough to know @ the top of a given skill level it would be tough. I myself usually just go along with them and have fun cause ya know the FB players have to hold on to someone for almost 2 min in some cases and may have to run 50 yards.....LOL

These type of threads pop up every once in a while. Go here >> http://www.racerxvt.com/virtual_trainer/Dr_A_heart_rate.html

Print this out. Have your friends read it and then tell them to shut their pie holes.....because they simply do not have a clue as to what a real sport is.
