Comparing there results on wee bikes CP is better actually....
One World title, second in both US nationals series... which he was very unlucky not to win both. and won two SX titles in two years... and coming back for a major injury. That is impressive. from mcread
Idiot's :L
Pourcel has a French National Championship, a World Championship, x2 East Coast SX Championships and x2 consecutive 2nd place Outdoor finishes.

The point was that McGrath is a legend, and has every right and qualification to pronounce judgement on what he sees as unwise career moves on Pourcel's part. I personally like Pourcel and hope he does well in whatever he does.
I'm not arguing to say CP sucks. If you've ever read my posts I'm the 1st to say how big a fan I am of CP. In fact I started a thread title CP377 should get top $$. http://www.vitalmx.com/forums/MotoRelated,20/CP-377-IMO-should-get-top-… so I don't want to hear I'm an American CP hater.
I just don't agree with you guys arguing that CP is better than MC. That is just stupid IMO. MC in his rookie year wasn't signed for a lot of money. All MC wanted was to be on a team that could win and from there could prove himself and he did. Of course once he won that title in 93 he could demand real money and he got it.
IMO CP should do the same at this point. If I was him I would go to factory Suzuki and Factory Kawi and tell them he'll ride for whatever just so he can prove himself this year. If he does what you and I know he's capable of doing he'll have no problem , starting next year, getting the money he wants.
I have a lot of admiration for Pourcel. Super talent and the ability to come back from serious injury says a lot. I thought he had the outdoor championship in the bag, but he couldn't put two motos together. The Pala deal make him really look like damaged goods.
I wouldn't spec big money on him. He has to put an entire year together and then make demands. The economy just further weakens his (and everyone else's) position.
I wish him the best.
Listen, Im not trying to discredit McGrath he was awesome and pretty much dominated the sport in America for most of my youth, nor am I suggesting Pourcel IS better. Im simply bench racing by pointing a couple of things out.
On the one hand, we complain about their carbon-copy podium speeches and ask for some "flavor" but then when we get a little flavor, we shit all over the person who gave it to us. LAME!
As the guy above posted, until Pourcel retires no one will be able to compare their achievements. But likewise, people shouldn't be getting in such a flap at the suggestion that anyone might threaten the untouchable Messiah - Jeremy McGrath.
Just because a guy races the big bike class on off coast races doesn't take his rookie status away when he moves up full time.
Pit Row
Now that I think of it, Decoster actually did say that, but hell, what does Decoster know?
hit a guy when he,s down (injured) you are the real goat!!!
There has got to be a break down in translation w/you or something. There's no way you are as dumb as you've made yourself look in this thread. No way!
Now bring on the bears because this thread is cooked.
