You go the holeshot on posting that news on Vital.

Pulling the plug after SX unless they can land a sponsor with some $$. That stinks for the riders and the team personnel.

Now it may make a bit more sense as to why they put all their riders in the west region to likely cut down on travel costs.

If JDR doesn't get the help they need, where will the current riders go? Is it possible Yosh Suzuki picks up someone to replace Stewart? Not directly from JDR but could that lead to a domino effect to open up a spot? Like maybe a Rockstar or RCH rider moving to the Yosh team and a JDR rider moving to Rockstar?

Also, could any of the JDR guys jump ship early to a new team before SX ends? Could this be the catalyst to move Malcolm to 450's?

According to the people that say they know, Suzuki has no energy drink deal or other major title sponsors to require them to be at the races. If their main guy has to pull out I doubt they pick anyone up. They had the same scenario last year during the nationals and simply skipped the races when Stewart was out.

I remember reading something in Racerx or something interviewing their team and how they planned on staying around for a long time blah blah blah. I wonder if they had enough capitol to make KTM think they would be a great satellite team. Either way it sucks, hopefully it works out for the riders.

Savatgy to PC or FC for 2014? I'd give the kid a shot.

Sucks all around for the team and more importantly the riders and staff that supports them.

Just goes to show how fragile our sport is in regards to the economy. I wish I had the answer to bringing in more money to our sport but unfortunately I don't.........

I thought the team was owned by a really rich family from Australia?
Maybe they're tired of putting in their own money..

It said the owners other investments went sour so they cant fund a team anymore. Put joey on the eleven 10 mods team for the nations and then he can prove he dessrves a top ride.

I feel bad for Mookie.

And if you blew through 800M in two years, you are seriously doing something wrong. I know moto is just a complete waste of money but damn.

this is the same situation as L&M. the owners are still very wealthy but they're tired of spending their own cash.

I doubt Jay (owner of JDR) or his families lifestyles are going to change one bit. Jay will move back to AUS and carry on.

I would love to get a hold of the media kits from the teams and see what and how they sell the team sponsorship.

Their some some serious issues with exposure with our sport and it's going to be ugly over the next few years unless we can get it sorted out.

What's this we stuff? You can't even compose a sentence that makes sense, and you're requesting to review team materials?

Exactly, I am pretty sure most of the teams do not put as much effort into marketing and finding new sponsors as they could.

They seem to be a race team first and a marketing company second.

However I believe they need to be a marketing company first and a race team second if they are to survive.

*While they are at it they should take a leaf out of nascar team owners books and have the team owner own all the various departments like the engine shop / suspension development etc...
All these small companies charge the race team for their work and make a very tidy profit... then the race team gets enough funding to cover these legitimate bills from sponsors.. even if they are only just covering costs the team owner is then making a tidy profit.

JDR will be missed if they do close down... Cheers for having a punt in moto Jay.. GC

It makes you wonder if any of the riders knew it was coming before A1. Regardless, it's a bum deal for everyone involved.
Hopefully some of the people/riders can find employment for the outdoors. Mookie was top 10 last year in Lites often and Savatgy is opening a lot of peoples eyes this year.
On a side note, that is 2 KTM teams that have had to shut their doors this season. What's up?

2 teams have shut their doors this year? Wait I thought unlike us amatuers the teams had a money tree planted out behind their shop?

I thought they were immune to the expenses of this sport, that they had no problem with bikes that are extremely expensive to run. Gas prices above 3 bucks a gallon and a schedule that makes them drive all over the nation. Well I guess I thought wrong.

I think the best way to get money into the sport is to get more riders riding. This sport has become a rich mans sport by the time you buy a bike then have a way to haul it and pay for gas then fix it after a wreck it takes some serious money. If you would add it up I best every race weekend is $400-$500 dollars easy. If you didn't grow up riding then why would you spend all that money to find out. I think that local clubs/tracks need to do something like sponsor a rider, and what you do is if a kid or grown adult is wanting to get into the sport the club/track has a bike that the person can try out the sport on. I didn't start riding until I was 25 because I didn't go up with a dad that rode my father n law took me out on day with on his extra bikes and I was hooked. The only way to get more money is by more viewer or members, and when you get members you get viewers.

Perhaps a switch back to bikes that have no ultra expensive motor/valve mods, maybe one that runs pre mix.

How about just a simple box van(diesel if possible) with a mechanic driving and living out of it round to round, after a race or 2 he can put a new clutch and top end in the bike.

He can pick up his rider at the airport and they can share a hotel room close to the track.

.......oh wait, that's how they once did things, and it worked just fine.

They stopped running the factory team in Australia this year as well. The idea was that they were going to focus more of there attention on the american team. Guess they just got tired of throwing their money at the team for little reward. Wonder what this means for the amateur team aswell, that was supposed to be KTM's answer to team green and Geicos farming system.
