Sorry, this is my last question about buying dirt bikes. Tongue I'm looking at a 2001 yamaha ttr 125 for $1,100, the only thing is it sat in his garage since he outgrew it (7 years). Is it ok to buy or should i be concerned that it will have problems?

dude... buy it and go have fun... If you're asking these questions, you won't notice the difference anyways. Buy it, learn how to ride, sell it, and buy a 125 or 250f

Buy it. Since it has been sitting so long, give it a quick oil change, clean ond oil the air filter, make sure the tire pressure is ok (12-14psi) and you will be good to go. Definatley look at the air filter before riding it. Filters can get brittle and just fall apart from age.

Probably will need new tires and inner tubes. 7 years is a long time for those.

I wouldn't pay that much for a bike that's sat that long--figure you're going to have to buy tires, tubes, air filter, oils, spark plug, and possibly more to get it rideable. I'd offer $750 or $800.

Make sure to check the silencer for dead mice or nests.

Airbox, too.

SteveS: I am running around on a recently acquired 76 TT500. I am still on the old tubes and tires, on a bike that sat 25 years!
I have new tires and tubes ready to install, but I am having too much fun to stop and change them!Unsure

Before anything else, take the gas cap off and smell. I gaurentee you the gas was left in it and it will be BAD. The carb and gas tank will have to come off and be properly and thoroughly cleaned, preferably by someone who knows what they are doing.

Don't try to run it with that old gas in it. It will just make things worse.
If the bike was stored properly and the fuel drained before storage, then change the oil, clean the filter etc and you'll be good to go.

You may need to clean the carb too after setting that long. offer 700-800 like Steve said.

Make sure the clutch operates properly also. Have seen bikes that sit for a while that the fibers glue to the steel plates. You can ride around with the clutch in for hours, and if they are really stuck bad, they will never free up.

My son's YZ85 did that after only a couple of months storage.

$1100 seems a bit steep for being that year... Offer a lower price like others said.

I sold that exact bike for that exact amount about 2 years ago! I used it as a trainer bike for some of the beginner kids I was working with about 5 years ago.....great little bike!
