ML512 should hit KTM to test one, he doesn't have the street cred of MXA but you never know?

If this doesn't end the debate they used 300's....

This video will.
Watch Dungey grab 3rd gear on the last step on-off before he comes to almost a stop on the roller. Dumps 3rd gear and it doesn't bog.. Even a piss-mod 250T would still have a hard time with that.

I have a '18 250sx, stock with the correct jetting this is totally possible. With stock gearing there are a lot of 3rd gear corners that would normally be 2nd. The transmission gearing on these bikes doesn't match the power curve very well.

Way back when I was a national pro, we made the best power on my KTM 125 at 32:1 due to better ring seal. Cranks and pistons lasted much longer too. I averaged about 6 weeks out of a crank, and a piston would go a full week (bike would get new rings after every day of riding, and then a new piston the night before a race). I switched to 40:1 for my mix (usually maxima 927 or yamalube 2R) because I liked the throttle response better, and lets just say thats how I earned my user name, because my bikes blew up.. ALOT. I was lucky to make it a week without breaking a piston or seizing, and crank life was shortened to 3-4 weeks

I read this forum a decent amount when I'm bored but never post, every one argues over everything. I had a 05 ktm I got brand new out the door for 6800, right when the new models came out. The motor pulled hard but the bike was a turd I dumped money into it and it was still a turd. The new KTMs are a different animal after they revamped pretty much every thing. The new KTMs are sick. But its still bad ass that Yamaha is still right there and some one can buy a competitive two stroke for cheap then build it and get suspension work done when the moneys there. RV is a bad ass but I don't think if he switched flavors results would of been any different.
I run 32:1 but Im on the pepper a good amount and never have any after ride spit up any where,I mix my niece and nephews 125/250 yzs 42:1.

It's kind of humorous how everyone is so amazed by a 300 2t running so good when they have been at the top of KTM's sales since before they were orange. Not to mention Sherco, Gas Gas, TM and of course....Beta. 6 pages like this is something new...

They go back a little further than that one.

Yep, I had a next door neighbor in a duplex that had one and got me into off road. Back then nobody knew what a KTM was, they were exotics mostly for the rich guys. It was like a cheater off road, and if you look at the engine you will see things that are likely still interchangeable to this day.
